Im way too late, but as a log home builder I would say you need to use sliding brackets for the roof pilars at the bottom end, so when the wall/wood collapses/drys the roof rafters would liuve with it. Sorry for my bad english but hope you understand. Greetings from Finland, been enjoying your build!!

and not make a hole on the bottom end of the rafter, so it can slide freely as the wall collapses.

That's a great tip. Do you think because I have everything supported on vertical posts I"ll be ok. The wood doesn't shrink in length only width, right.

On the other half the roof use a rafter that you have screw in place to slide,the top of the rafter to the top, that way you are not lifting so much.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I did that a little and it was helpful at times. Still pretty steep and it slides down but gives me a resting point.
