Fabulous progress, your tenacity with the diffucult working conditions is very admirable, your patience with each other is also admirable and so very important. Lovely stonework Clare 🥰

Thankyou! Patience is vital for this project and probably one of the most important skills to learn throughout life, I now see. Both with the tasks to complete and each other. It is easy to get frustrated with both, but then important to take a deep breath and say tomorrow is another day 😊

Love the wall Clare! I’m right with you on the exhilarating feeling you get in putting the stones where they ‘need’ to be, I haven’t done anything to that scale but the bits I have done, it’s just a really relaxing thing to do! The love and pride in your voice when speaking of your dad was just ❤😊 I can only imagine that your dad would be so proud of all that you are doing and have achieved! I wonder what it is with the stones? They get you thinking don’t they? About the hands that touched them and shaped them in the past. I love it! Lost is an absolute darling….her miaow is sooo cute!

Oh my I think I'm going mad, I thought I had written to you here. Thank you for the lovely comments, my Dad would have been in his element with this project, everything to do with building was his forte, I guess that where some of my interest comes from. Losty is a little darling, but she's also putting our two adult cats to shame, as she's a great little mouser. Our other two seem to ha e got fat and lazy and entered hibernation mode😂 Have you let your guys out yet?

wonder how many times many of your stones have been used over the years. love that you rescued the kitten.

Yes and some are boulders, I just wonder how in days gone by did they lift these into place. Yes our kitten Lost is a little cutie. She doesn't know if she's a dog or a cat, she has bonded incredibly with Rooney. We also have her mum, Clementine, and she has a sister and brother, but we have rehomed them. I'm a big cat person, Robs a dog man, I love their independence.

@WestCorkWander you're living a wonderful life. I love all animals especially cats. However, there are too many eagles and cougars where i live to have them.

You have certainly had your share of bad weather , time for it to improve! The stone wall looks great, it is something very satisfying to do. I love working with and using stones. I always keep my eyes open for a good rock, have hauled many home from all over. So satisfying to find the perfect one.

It's so rewarding working with stone isn't it! We hope to improve our skills further with other projects.

The stonewall is amazing, it restores character to the house, the mix of old and new really works. Good days and weeks come after a lousy day. The only thing I wonder about is how far you are now, seeing as that was time lapsed in September. Let the New Year be good to you, all the best for 2024!

Awww thanks, we exactly try to mix old and new with simple and what's at hand which is prob what the old timers did. Right now we are still in caravan but kids are in temporary rooms in old house and we have a warm snug fire sofa and tv. The new parts are roofed and membraned. We started cladding one wall before Xmas but paused to get kids in for Santa!! If you watch our house plans video from a few weeks back we show the current state. Going back to cladding this week then starting back indoors for final push 🤞
