Thanks for the video, great info. Real new to this, just a quick question, when you mention you connect a LOAD to the charger so that you can monitor it, these are all DC 12V loads right? If I only connect my MPPT charger to batteries and then batteries to an inverter for AC current, then this LOAD feature in the MPPT has no use to me, right o wrong? thanks!

36 kWh since you've installed it two years ago? Is that right? At current avg rates in Georgia, USA that's not even $5 worth. Good review.

Hello!Hope someone help me with this.I`ve just set up my electrical system.Renogy solar pannel 160W with 20A MPPT Epever charge controller with Victron 125Ah SuperCycle leisure battery.When i got my leisure battery delivered i dry test fited everything to make sure its all good.My first question is:Why the MT50 remote meter shows my battery is fully charge (14.1V) with the "smiley face",but the actual load in the battery is just 11.7V (just received and still did not make the first 24 hours charging).The seccond question is even if a put a load i can not see the AMPS in and out on the remote meter,it shows just 0.00 i guess this is because if i dont put load via solar charge controller outputs i am not going to see the amps flow on the MT50,am i right for this or not?If so i guess i have to install a separate "battery meter" where i can get the correct load and condition on the battery.Also there is a option "Charging energy history" u can check daily and monthly how much power you getting,but after 4 days mine still shows 0 on everything,thanks in advance

So what was drawing from your battery in this video? I have the same controller and it was showing the light bulb icon flashing but I didn't have anything on. In fact I turned the electrics to the habitation area off. Any ideas? I've just fitted the battery and I don't recall getting the light bulb icon flashing with the old battery I've just removed 🤔

You can still have the bulb showing and no draw from the power. Just press ok and it goes out.

Looking at buying one of these units, have you been happy with it

Yes very much so. It is very much a fit and forget unit. It is also useful having the LCD to quickly check the status of the solar panels and battery.

Good video. Thanks. If you install the controller in an easily visible location, what does the MT50 add? I know you said it added some things, but suggest one or two that you think make it worth while. Thanks! Scott

I have the same and i do not regret buying the meter mt50. It allows to adjust battery charge settings and is far easier to get the information needed to get a good understanding of how everything functions in all the different exposure situations. Admittingly now that i have a good understanding it does not really do a great deal extra. It does have a back light which the main unit does not. The screen gives all the "needed" information without the need to scroll through the menus.

When you press the enter button, does it just disconnect the power to the load output, or does it power down the whole charge controller?
@VanandBoat
@VanandBoat 3 жыл бұрын
It just disconnects the load output. Its also important to note that it switches the negative as opposed to the positive as might be expected!

I have epever 50amp, 4x240watt panels. Problem is, im getting 130 volt and very low amp even on sunny day, i didnt understand where is the problem, maybe the angle of the panel, or it is faulty panel?
@DinoPasic

@616e6f6e I had about 0,5-1amp, but i think charge controller is actually at equalizing voltage, so that was confusing. Another problem is, i think i dont have enough strong wires to connect batteries, so when i have strong consumer after 30sek im getting warn signal that voltage is dropping, so i thought ok they are empty, and then i let it to be charged. After i while, as i said im having funny situation with low amp charging (equalizing). So i think i have problem with cables. Im waiting for summer to check that again, house is in another country.

My unit has a maximum voltage input of 100v. Assuming yours is the same, It may be that it is cutting out due to over voltage. Try wiring the panels so that instead of 4 in series, you have two lots of two in series. These can then be wired in parallel which will halve your system voltage and bring below the 100v limit.

I have the same controller. But have a question that nobody can answer me! Why does the charge indicator show only about 50-60% at a battery voltage of 12.8V? That bothers me! Is that normal? Can you change that?

I have noticed the same. I have 24v 360ah system, and if i have stronger consumer voltage drops immediately.
@percy3815
@percy3815 3 жыл бұрын
You need to change the settings so the MPPT knows exactly what it’s feeding into... change it to represent the type, number of amp hours etc and it should show full at the right voltage

I suspect your referring to the battery image on the display, That annoys a lot of people and is something the developers don't care about, use the parameters displayed to judge where your system is at.

There are no arrows from solar to battery when there is no power being generated by the solar panels.

If the unit is registering a fault it will not supply current, you can try connecting your load directly to the batteries, you may find it stops charging as well if there is a short circuit, get the PC cable and install the software, was the only way I could find out why one of mine was doing this, still not sure why it registers a fault as I fitted the spare unit and it works, pulled it down and found no signs of fault though it works with a small panel charging my cars battery during extended periods of non use.
