I randomly bumped into someone who overheard me asking for comic books at a Garage sale last weekend. He said he had his cousins childhood comic collection and was looking to sell. So the lead panned out and I ended up buying the collection. Somewhere between 800 to 1000 Silver Age, Bronze Age and Copper Age comics. A few Key issues and lost of great stuff in pretty decent condition. Watch as I look through the whole comic book haul and show you everything that was in the collection.
Tons of Marvel comics, a sprinkling of DC comics. Spider-Man Comics,X-Men Comics, Doctor Strange Comics and lots more marvel comics characters .

That was one hell of a haul. I would love to run up on something like this, as there really isnt a market for comics in my area, and I lost a ton of comics not long ago in a flood. I have been trying to rebuild my collection while getting things fixed and done. But I have to compliment you on what you found and added to your collection. Very very awesome.

I really did luck out with this collection, it was a chain of events that lead to it. The year before they guy had some golden age comics out for sale for $2 so when I saw the sale again a year later he had sold them all but when I asked him about them the guy with this collection told me he had comics to sell from his and his cousins childhood so he gave me his phone number and we worked out the deal. Right time at the right place kind of deal.

I think you really did awesome with this haul. I wish I could run into a deal like this. Usually I have the money and no deals going on or I may find a deal, nothing like this find, and dont have the money. I am hoping one day I will run into something like that, so I can rebuild my collection. I never stop looking, or hoping. One day I hope.

There is always someone who does not like something for some unknown reason so I ignore the negative and keep it from bothering me otherwise I will let those 5 people keep me from making more content for all the people who enjoy it. Definitely tons of great reading and I love to collect comics for the art and the story lines and not so much for the value. I do want the comics that have value but I want to find them for a great price so I can enjoy the art and stories and not worry so much about how much I paid for the issue. Thank you so much for the thumbs up, I appreciate it :) I am happy you enjoyed my haul video.

I do find a few small stacks occasionally through out the summer but Its rare to find a big collection.

I have a number of these issues you showed. Pretty awesome sweet collection to get all at one time. That Hobgoblin mystery that ran for 3-4 years was a fun time in Spider-Man. I have the Alpha Flight issues shown. Shame it didn't have ASM 229 and 230. That is a great story. But what a great run of Spider-Man. You nearly got a ton of great issues from 120's to 270's. That is a nice run. Your missing Avengers 257 which is a key 1st appearance (name escapes me lol). You have a lot of nice Avengers in 200's which is Roger Stern's great run on the series. 1st Box is pretty decent.
@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 8 жыл бұрын
I think Avengers 257 is nebula who is a character I really liked in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie so luckily I already picked up a few copies for my collection. I think the Spider-Man run was a little more picked over because they are the easiest to sell on ebay but I am still very thrilled with what is in there, I have been sorting through the collection that last few weeks and definitely a lot of these were condition upgrades for my collection. Thanks for watching ;)

@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I mean its nice to have a high grade copy for value potential, but I don't think you can really appreciate a comic until you open it up and read it, look at the art etc. And I like to enjoy my collection so I don't want to worry about loosing a ton of value anytime I touch a comic.

This is a great collection. I have been collecting for about a a year now and I have a good amount of mostly Bronze Age comics. There’s one fantastic four comic in particular that idk if a lot of people know about. It’s the 20th anniversary of the fantastic four Terror in a tiny town. It’s issue 236. It’s an amazing story and it’s kinda like a alternate origin. Idk how to explain the story but it’s amazing. I don’t know if a lot of people know about this comic it’s great

INFINITYSTRIKER_298 - Minecraft and Marvel just a suggestion. Times are changing & in my opinion, collecting individual issues like this is dead. I’d suggest collecting deluxe hardcovers, omnibus & absolute editions. You get the full story, you dont have to bag & board then & they look great on a shelf & don’t have to be buried away in short/long boxes. Just my 2 cents.

I stopped at a yard sale once, guy had 4 long boxes and 4 short boxes full of comics . I paid 50 bucks for all of them. One box was nothing but punisher. Not really anything good in the boxes. First trigon of teen titans, and May be a couple of keys. Not ths t valuable though. But it was mostly just the stuff no-one wants. I kept the punishers. And a few others and sold the rest with some other comics I didn't want. Final count was 2,000-3,000 sold then for $315. Also had moon knight issue 1 in there I didn't know was worth.anything. But Tbh I wouldn't pay over a buck for it. I did stop at peddlers mall a few years ago back in 2004 or so. And found a ton of 70s-80s ghost riders for 50 cents each. Or 99 cents.

@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 7 жыл бұрын
If you read and enjoyed the comics then that was appreciating them as a kid even if you destroyed them. And they helped make you appreciate comics more today if you are upset that you destroyed them etc. Honestly I think kids who read their comics to death, cut them up them up for their art work, truly enjoy them for their stories and artwork were the ones who really appreciated their comics. If you had just bought them and put them away as an investment you probably would not give a crap about them today. Thank you so much for watching :)

This is probably the first time I'm commenting on someone's video. Your collection us great and I get so jelaous seeing people having so many comic book issues while i live in Pakistan where there are only graphic novels which are too expensive to buy. Wish someone from outside sells his comics to Pakistan. Love your video.

I am happy you enjoy the video. Shipping out of the US is very expensive, that is probably why you dont see as many international comics outside of Pakistan and only local comics which sound expensive. You might have to find other local collectors to see if you guys can order something together to save on shipping. Also look for local used book stores or any kind of used market maybe you can find some comics cheaper.

I enjoyed watching your haul. The only problem is if you purchased this haul for future profits you wasted your money. It is better to utilize that money to purchase ten great key books rather than get stuck with over 1000 books with some or little value. If you truly get thrills obtaining these books for the pure love of them, I gladly say two thumps up!!!
@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 4 жыл бұрын
Your idea is to spend $400 for 10 $40 books that are worth $400 total in hopes that they will be worth more in the future. I on the other hand I believe in finding collections at the best price I can find. This collection probably had the same 10 books worth $400 with 990 more comics for free. Since these were almost all bronze age comics they had an easy $2-$5 value each on average and the duplicates I did not need to keep sold for me easily. So I probably sold half the comics out of this collection for $1500-$2000. So I ended up with a $1000-$1500 profit, and I added 500 comics to my collection and I still had the 10 $40 books that you suggested I purchase instead. On top of that my KZbin revenue from this video actually paid for the collection. If I had bought just 10 $40 comics I would not have the same video content so would not have been able to make a video that paid for the collection. So for future value, I build my collection by making a profit while collecting which means I can keep buying more and more collections. If I had just invested in 10 key books I would have ran out of cash and be done. I hope that makes sense.

you got a lot of good books there, I actually remember buying a lot of them when they first hit the newsstands when I was a kid, I still have all of those books...don't worry about not having a lot of the keys, you can fill them in later. I went to a comic shop years ago and they sold a bundle package of THE NEW MUTANTS (50 thru 100) and ofcourse what was missing, the 1st DEADPOOL and the 1st CABLE, so I brought the bundle for like 50 bucks and later I hunted for the keys and actually got the best deal on the planet for the 1st DEADPOOL, a man was outside my old apartment building selling comic books from a long box, my wife calls me on the phone to tell me about it and I fugured they would all be non--key books ofcourse...I thumbed through the box like we all do and what do I find NEW MUTANTS #98 and he sold it to me for 50 cents...The man did not know what he was selling, AND IT WAS MINT CONDITION!!!, NEW MUTANTS #87...I wasn't so lucky, that book cost me about 60 bucks. KEEP COLLECTING THOSE NON-KEYS!!!
@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you hunt long enough you will find the keys for a great price. And this collection had some keys so it was good. You got a great price on the NM book, I am still hunting for a 98 but they are so common I am waiting for one to fall in my lap for a good price. I am very patient like that. Buying the filler runs in bulk is the really the best way to build a collect since overall it is going ot be a lot cheaper. Thanks for watching and taking your time to write.

I think that collection was much bigger than that and that's just all the leftover stuff that's really common and too new that nobody wants. And if he was a serious collector he would have had them polybagged with backing boards. But still for what you paid you got a good deal. Personally most of them I would not even want. I only collect comics up to a $0.20 cover price. If you really want to get a nice collection of comics going get all the non superhero stuff such as sci-fi titles by Charlton, Dell and Gold Key dated prior to 1975.

Amazing 218 is the first appearance of the fusion being the mud thing which combines Hydro Man and Sandman. And 222 is the first appearance of whizzer as Speed Demon. There were actually a lot of first appearances of minor villains in the Thing series. Rom annual 1 and 3 are the first appearance of something, can't remember. New Mutants 9 and 10 are minor keys and of course 25 is the first appearance of David Haller before he becomes Legion in the next issue. Lol and you said it right after I stopped the video to write that. Annual number 1 is also a key. Isn't it the first Leila Davis? Hey it might be secondary or minor, but it's still okay cuz it's a 1st appearance. I think the two in one 95 is one of the early appearances of the living mummy, maybe the second or third appearance, but I could be mistaken. Iron Man 163, first Obadiah Stane. 169 and 170 are key. 186 is the first vibro I think. Green Lantern 184 is a key, don't forget. Marvel Fanfare 10, 11 and 12 are key and I don't remember exactly of what but I think if memory serves 12 is the first appearance of a minor villain called snapdragon. X-Men 149 is key of something, but it's escaping me right now. Captain America 289 is pretty hilarious, not a key, but in the back up his girlfriend Bernie is having an imaginary dream or something where she became Captain America and Steve was the one worried about her at home or something, it had an amalgam of modok and Red Skull which is very reminiscent of something in the last couple years in comics, it was this whole mini event. One of the mashups was called Soldier Supreme and I bet you could tell who was mashed up with who in that amalgam. And 290 is a key book as well. 291 1st tumbler maybe? 295 is important. 302 is a first appearance as I recall. 308 1st armadillo.

Comment part 2... Daredevil 197 is the first yuriko oyama who later becomes Lady Deathstrike. I think dazzler 22 is an earlier appearance of rogue, not one of the super early ones though. Funny how 33 is a homage to MJ's Thriller. You might want to look up 36, that might be something important. And LOL do you think Defenders 93 is gone cuz that's the first gargoyle? I think Spider-Woman 26 is a key, go ahead and look it up when you get a chance. Master of Kung Fu 61 is a key. E-man #1 from first Comics is the first appearance of the title character. Speaking of another title that first ran for 4 issues in capital comics, which are much more difficult to find, then switched publishers to First comics for the rest of the Run is the badger. Real name Norbert Sykes. Big fan of that character. I think that giant size Captain Marvel 1 is kind of rare. I think that Iceman series is a little bit more difficult to find than the Magik limited series, but both are very good to have or to find in general, cuz I either usually see them beats to hell or looking really nice. FF 142 is the first darkoth the death demon. FF 239 is one of the keys that has to do with Frankie Raye Nova, as well as 244.

What does everyone think will happen to the prices of Sports Cards, Comic Books, 80s toys etc...Right now prices are through the roof?
@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 3 жыл бұрын
In general due to nostalgia, prices start to climb when things turn 20 years old (Thats when the 8-12 year olds who grew up with the stuff are around 30 and have cash to spend on things) and then those prices climb until people are in their 40-50s and spend lots of cash during a mid life crisis. I see it all the time with collectibles and you can kinda predict what will be the next wave of super popular stuff. Look back at what was popular with kids in the early 2000 and that is what will start to climb in value and demand. Now todays values are also being pushed higher because of what is happening in the world. Lack of places to buy stuff from has made many buyers go online to buy. And then combine that with less garage sales and places for people to find stuff to sell on ebay etc. That causes a lower supply with a higher demand so prices go up. Lots of young folks have made a killing with bitcoin etc so the huge rush of cash to some folks means extra money in the market to buy rare things so prices of MTG and Pokemon and sports cards etc have shot through the roof. And then on top of all that tons of stimulus money means some folks got more cash then they need to live so that helped push prices higher. The recent events with the gamestop stocks also means lots of people made a fortune on that so I suspect another wave of price increases on nostalgic things.

In the spring try to hit up some garage sales and thrift stores to see what you can find for a good price.

Thank you, Is there any online auction sites or other ways to buy comics through the mail? One day I would love to collect some older Indian comics from the 1970s and earlier I have seen some cool looking ones.

@@popfuntoplay Actually here I guess Amazon and flipkart offers a variety of indian comics like tinkle digest ,Chacha chowdary comics,Amar chitra katha etc... But the thing is all the novels as well as indian comics are widely available rather than The dc and marvel comics. 😁
