I just got back from an Alaska cruise. My wife and I went on an excursion in Skagway and part of it was we panned for gold. I thought oh this is going to be fun. I'm been watching your videos and thinking i might try some gold panning when I retire this month. They gave us a couple of handfuls of sand in a rusty tin pan. I followed your lead and to my belief there was gold in the bottom of my pan. My wife was not doing very well so I helped her and she also had gold in her pan. I grew up in Cottage Grove, a few hours from where you are. I will keep watching you.

Not a bad little haul. Nice little baby nug too. I love the longer videos. Get yourself a life straw/sawyer filter. Its totally worth not having to pack in a lot of water. Heavy pans

Ahh, Cool, I'll say it once, GRAVES CREEK, just below the old wooden water flume where it crosses the creek. Hand stacks all over the place but the shale is full of match head size pickers. Ya have to get wet though.

@@a3skywarrior929 I found a few pictures that looked slightly similar, but it was only the basalt pieces. The prophyridic rocks seemed to be a conglomerate of different rocks that formed together

Good guess, the remints of Mt. Mazama, now called Crater Lake from the caldera left from it. The fallout covers much of the Rouge River Valley and also much of Southern Oregon, northern California. ... 👍👊

@SkovianGoesOutdoors first thought was basalt because I have found one on the volcano Mount Etna in Sicily, but yours broke smooth. Just got back into Geology since hitting history...human anatomy...then entomology (beekeeper)from the early 90s. Glad to be getting back to my childhood love of rocks...I never lick them...unless no one is looking 🫡

I have actually had pretty good luck finding gold in crack's running the same direction as the water the gold is usually at the lower end of the crack

side swirling will trow gold less angle about 15/20 degrees pump the pan a lite up flip on your forward motion will settle heavies poof th fluf

If I'm right that large purple rock you said that's a gemstone could be amethyst could be worth more than all the gold you find on that River please take it in and have it looked at and dig the rest of it up and more if you can find it

Good call... it is found in our area of southern Oregon 👍👊 @SkovianGoesOutdoors , take it by Crater Rock Museum off of HWY 99 in C.P. they can help you identify most any rock, for free most often....
