About 15 years ago, a gold guy from the Pittsburgh Pa area, who I think was a member of some gold enthusiast club, was interviewed by either the PGH Post Gazette of Tribune Review ( Greensburg, PA) regarding the gold prospecting hobby. He related, like you, the Pa had gold due to glacial movement. The guy stated that gold could be found in the Allegheny River and it's tributaries to the North. So, being the inquisitive type, I went out to a sand pile I had for block work. I didn't have a real gold pan of course, so I used the wife's King Arthur (her mom's antique one mind you............not a smart move as I would later discover) and panned out about a 1/4 cup at a time. After about 4 hours of panning through about two #10 cans of sand, I ended up with two small flakes of gold confirmed by an elderly local jeweler. I surrendered them to the wife since I used...........her mom's antique pan.

One thing i will tell you as a bit of advice , is to take hike this time of year and late fall and take pictures of what creeks you are interested in . watching how the ice setups as a key onto how the water flows.let alone when it rains ; both things will give you a key onto how the gold flows and as well as how the water might move the gold . :)

The mountains, and next ice age, who knows maybe we will have more than flour gold in PA,, 😂😂👍 but hey considering how far it came, how long it's been there,, it's co it can still be found,, a whole lot made its way into the bay and now part of the oceans waters,, will never get rich from gold in pa, but it's fun to find👍👍👍
