I bought the small 28L x pac a month ago and I love it. Fits under airplane seats and I can still pack things comfortably. I use it as my personal bag with a carry on luggage. Only “complaint” is it’s a little heavy. High quality durable materials and features adds weight, but it’s worth it since it feels more premium than my previous bags.

a bit heavy but totally worth it for the durabiliy/feel

I have both and use the small (x pac) as a daily carry. Wish they were a little lighter empty ~ because packed out….these are heavy! And also wish the side straps could stretch out a little longer so you could also double the side to strap up your jacket or whatever. Last thing..love the one stretchy mesh in the admin pocket and wish majority of the pockets were made of that versus the gray (mines is orange) material pockets. Gives it more options to stuff and keeps it clean when you aren’t using it (snap back).

Just found your channel. Outstanding, detailed reviews. I have a small travel pack and love it. 100% concur with you. I’m about the same height and lean, build as you and the small fits me better. When fully loaded, it gets heavy but the carry harnesses evenly distribute the weight for a comfortable carry. I don’t bring a rolling carry on because I usually check a large or medium size suitcase depending on the length of trip and don’t want to roll another bag. I use the Aer as a carry on and store it overhead to get it out of the way. It is small enough to fit under the seat depending on the airline and configuration of seats if no space available or you want to bring it down for quicker egress after arrival. I use a 6L or 9L sling as a personal item to hold the stuff I need during the flight. Mahalo for the valuable info and videos.

Late but I have the small version in cordura. It's one of the few travel backpacks that doesn't make me look like I have a turtle shell on my back. Anything taller than 19" doesn't work for me (which are most of the popular travel backpacks). For reference I'm 5 feet tall. I was able to fit this under the airplane seat (United domestic flight). It did stick out but since I'm so short it didn't bother me. Like others have said I wish it was lighter but besides that I've enjoyed everything else about the bag. Organization and comfort are the best for me.

I just got the travel pack three this week, and I’m super excited! I didn’t get the hip belt straps initially, but I have thought about getting them. I used to think all hip/sternum straps were ugly, but after getting into outdoor backpacking, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of a good fit, which can make a heavy bag feel light. Even going on a multi-day hike with 30 + lbs of gear and food, if I can put most of the weight on my hip, the bag feels light! However, buying a hip belt separately is a little tricky. On an unrelated note, how do you like those packing cubes? I need to get some and haven’t gotten around to researching brands yet.

Glad you are enjoying it so far Mitchell! I am a hip belt for for any travel bags, so I'd def recommend getting them (even if they are ugly lol) Packing cubes - I'm no expert, just starting to test out different brands now for a roundup later down the line. When you grab the pack with the top handle, do you feel that “wrapping material” around the handle tends to “overfit” the handle, thus creating a flimsy feeling when grabbing? I think AER used excessive wrapping nylon around the top handle, hence the flimsy feeling.

You asked about the hip strap. I’m not a fan if you have to purchase it separately. I like what PD did by including it but making it stowable. I use maybe 25% of the time. Just the extra friction of buying and attaching a separate strap puts me at 0.73% likely to buy - as an estimate.

From what I hear they all close together packing out since the aer doesn't really feel like a 35L pack given its lil interior cavity and abundance of pockets (I prefer using tech cubes instead of that organisation layer in the front). Hey Aaron. Love your reviews! I'm currently torn between the Travel Pack 3 Small and the City Pack Pro. I'm not a one bag travel type of person, especially with backpacks. I usually have a duffel bag for short trips and a carry on suitcase when flying, so my backpack would work as a complement to those. Ideally I'd be using this as my personal item when flying (under the seat in front of me), and as my EDC when travelling. I used the City Pack as my personal item when I went to Thailand and it was way too small for that (great for my EDC/work bag though!). Which would you recommend?
@Nomads.Nation5 ай бұрын
thanks dude! I'd personally go with the Aer City Pack Pro since it's smaller (and more likely to be considered a personal item) while still being large enough (at 24 liters) to fit plenty of stuff. But ofc this totally depends on how much stuff you pack

Best reviewer by a million mile ! Sincerely ! I am desperate to find the perfect bag for 10 to 15 days travels. I love the Aer Travel pack 3 but 35L is a maybe bit short for me. Especially if I bring shoes. Something like 40l or 35 which could expand to 40 or a bit more would be just perfect. Green of course : anything like olive or kaki. The more I'm getting old the more I am a green lover :) I can't find the perfect match for now. The 35L Pakt seems to be a possible choice but I'm not a huge fan of the "dust magnet" fabric and the laptop compartment in the middle of the bag. I'm thinking about getting the X-Pac version of the Travel Bag 3 Small, not only do I love X-Pac in general, it also get's rid of the non PU-coated zippers problem and I don't mind the aqua guard zippers being a little harder to pull, they're more water resistant after all, plus it makes it harder for pick pocket thiefs to get into the zippers unnoticed when traveling in some shady locations. The biggest con that's making me hold off a bit is the price, 345 Euros in the EU stings...I've bought a few Aer sling bags like the Day Sling 3 Max X-Pac and the City Sling 2 before and they've already been expensive, but I don't regret getting them at all, so I hope I will feel the same about the Travel Pack when I get it, even if it's on the slightly more pricy side of travel backpacks.

@natusMCMII10 ай бұрын
@@Nomads.Nation thanks for the tip, but in case you’re referring to the London Undercover store which sells Aer products out of the UK, it’s even slightly more expensive than ordering directly from Aer since the price at check out isn’t the final price. Because the whole Brexit thing happened, I have to pay additional taxes and custom fees when ordering goods from the UK that cost more than 150 Euros, so when doing the math, ordering from Aer directly will cost me 345 Euros while the grand total from ordering at London Undercover comes out at about 352 euros, so as much as my wallet chooses to live in disbelief, I fear that 345 bucks is the best price I will get…like I said, pricy, but at least I never had buyers remorse after getting an Aer product, I hope it will stay this way, fingers crossed!

How's the length on those shoulder straps? I bought a Everki Business 120 (titan) because it fits larger laptops but the straps were so huge. Hoping someone can offer some insight. My current EDC backpack is the 30L Recon backpack by the North Face. This backpack also works as my personal item on trips (no issues with it fitting underneath the seat on airplanes). I want to upgrade to a backpack with a clam shell opening to make it easier on trips when I want to pack my drone. In addition I’d probably toss in a packing cube, towel, sweatshirt and my speaker. I definitely don’t plan on packing it out to max capacity. My question is do I go with the Aer Travel Pack 3 (35 L) or the Travel Pack 3 small (28). The 30L in my NF Recon seems perfect. My concern is that the Travel Pack 3 small might not offer enough space and the Travel Pack 3 might be too big. Which ever backpack I get I want to still be able to use it as a personal item and not as a carry on.
