I can't say enough about your wonderful conservation ethic and message! I'm a retired conservation biologist and a lifetime angler born and raised on California's coasts- north and south. I worked in the sport fishing business from high school and into college and studied marine biology and oceanography- I wonder if you're pursuing a similar path at school. Anyway thanks for promoting a catch and release philosophy- all species have value; there is no such thing as a "trash fish" since each plays a role in the food web. Releasing that 40" halibut puts you in the smallest percentage of KZbin anglers but solidifies your reputation as a true sportsman and conservationist. Huge props to you for showing the science behind releasing the very biggest fish to continue the fishery. This is a message that needs to be shared and you consistently do that in your vids. Hope your classes are going well- can't wait to see you next season. Cheers!

Thank you! I'm currently pursuing undergraduate degrees in Environmental Biology and Geospatial Science to go into some kind of Conservation Biology in the future! It's certainly interesting to see anglers perceive fish in terms of their personal value and not the value of their ecological roles. A paradigm I would like to help shift with time. I appreciate your kind words and hope to serve as a better example the more I learn about our species. Tight lines!

All of your videos are great but the one that stands out to me is the one where you road your bike to the river before class to get fish to cook later on. I'd love to see a repeat of that challenge or something different in your landlocked region! Tight Lines, dude!

Loving thee longer format. With the other channels I watch I usually will watch 2 or 3 episodes but these longer ones you are doing are awesome. Also love the whistling lesson :) The banter with yourself is so funny (WSB) and what a great episode. During bad weather, say something like, here ya go Diehard Fishing! Thanks for your time and effort again, Alon! )sp)

I would learn a lot from you if you gave more information about the size of your swimbait and weights and depth and such. I know technical stuff is tedious to review, but you're the real deal. That sunfish jumping was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a fishing video!

@FishermansChronicles10 ай бұрын
Thank you! Awesome to hear you've learned from my videos :) for what it's worth, getting out there on a kayak has been one of the most rewarding things I've done. Being so close to the water, feeling so small in the ocean, and dragging yourself through waves, gives you a different perspective and appreciation for the ocean and nature in general. Catching a hali aint so bad either 😅

That was so much fun to watch. But that seagull ....!
@FishermansChronicles10 ай бұрын
The seagull was relentless! It knows there will be a payoff eventually, and that's worth following me around all day for! It's very interesting from a survival trade-off perspective because it would rather follow me around all day expending very little energy than flying around for a short while to find a quicker meal. Some food for thought!
