Did you know that your ancestors(many of Celtic tribes) used to reside on the very edge of the Helm's peninsula(Balkan) for couple of centuries. In all those years my ancestors Slavs and yours lived peace,and their cultures affected each other in many diffrwnt ways. One could only start with national dances and already find big simularity between Irish and Serbian style of dancing. Slavs never had a bad word about Celtic people,neither do we today have anything but admiration for the resilience that your people have shown in defiance against tirany,just as we did here in bloody Balkan. P.S. In old Serbian language škrt-škrt and škrtlandjanin škotlandjanin (Scotsman) is a word that describes someone who will not give away his earnings easily,names of the nations that we use until this very day have been passed from one generation to another.So basicily blefore we learn the internationally accepted names of the countries that we have crossed our history with,we learn the names which Serbian people used to describe people they had contact with at some point of our mutual history. There is a story about D-Day veteran, a Celt of the highlands who took his bagpipes to war and stormed the beaches. He knew his friends would be afraid so he dropped his weapon and snuck his pipes into his pack and chucked on his kilt. He knew he had to keep the pipes dry when they landed the beach, so he kept them above his head up to his chest in water. Following the person in front of him, he made it to the beach and cleared the pipes and began to play as the carnage unfolded. The battle turned into a frenzy and the troops both friendly and enemy alike were driven to madness and above all else, the courage to face the end. The war piper got up the front where the metal meets the meat and stood there in craters, in shell scrapes, in the open following the rhythm of the battle. He became the rhythm and brought the sound of truth. He played the sounds of war and baptised his pipes in battle. Marking the ground sacred of Gods sound. God heard the war piper that day and judged them. The enemy were deceived and spared the war piper his life while his friends followed his rally cry. They laughed, they protested, they fought and they danced. No extra honour was given to this lone war piper, he fought his own war on D-Day by throwing down his weapon and blasting his pipes until it was done. My ancestry comes from the Dalach’s and Crowden clans of Ireland. We are all brothers and sisters. Cel go deo.

This year I discovered that I am of Scottish origin. This makes me proud beyond belief. I've always enjoyed the pipes. The wearing of my kilts. I didn't know why but according to my last name. It all makes since. I am Scottish by blood. I now know who I am, who I was and where I came from. I am truly happy with that. It makes my heart sing. No one can take that away from me.
