I love this progression. Sounds like the music from The Mask.

So great. Recently discovered your channel. Really useful for me. Except for a theory course 40 yrs ago I am totally untrained and limited to mostly diatonic progressions. But with YT and people like yourself I have started to understand the chromatic world and new approaches to chord progressions harmony so in my late 70's I am learning a great deal. You and others on YT are like favorite teachers. This bite sized approach really works for me and I will start using it to make better sounds. Thanks. .

agreed. my inspiration for starting this channel came from a similar experience with other great YT teachers. what a world, huh?

I love non diatonic chords. They produce unexpected progressions and non common tensions that are beautiful.

Oh man thank you so much! Very impressed with your relaxed approach. I greatly appreciate that you limited the duration of the video -- I got useful tips, examples, and theory all in under 7 minutes.

1) At school we learned to play the key note righthand and the chord lefthand. Sometimes, to fool my mother, i played it inversed, such as you do, but in both cases I found it sounding very nice. The only thing : i played it arms chrossed, and now i saw that i have to learn to play it like you. 2) chords may have more than 3 notes of course, even 5. Your session was refreshing, renewing, inspiring and encouraging. Thank you & greetings from Belgium.

Interesting. Those non-diatonic chords so sound very filmic. It must be a common thing. Less so in pop music. But still...many possibilities. Thanks.

thanks for the tutorial. I may wanna add, I dont think Cm is the parallel minor of Cmaj. Am is the parallel minor of Cmaj. You mixed up the terms a little bit in this tutorial
@ImpliedMusic2 жыл бұрын
hi. it's semantics, but C min is parallel to C maj. Am is RELATIVE (the same key signature) to C Major. it's an important distinction, and i appreciate your attention to detail.
@MoechtegernPimP2 жыл бұрын
@@ImpliedMusic oh wow. I just realised in german we use the term other way round. Relative Keys are called 'Parallel-tonart(key)' in german, while we call parallel Keys 'variant-tonart'.. so I was kinda confused! Good to know :D

@@MoechtegernPimP very good to know! Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
