Hey AECoH. Hope you read this. Just wanted to say thank you for casting CoH 1. I watch them all religiously. I tried to play CoH 2 but I couldn't get into it because the vibes were off. I tried to play CoH 1 again recently but the players there are crazy skilled online. I love to watch the tactics and hear the jokes along the way with the broadcasting. Hoping you do more COH 1 replays. I'll be watching them when you do.

A modded CoH1 with CoH2's quality of life features, a modern UI, toned down RNG, and updated textures would be one of the most popular multiplayer games on the planet. CoH3 has a lot to do to beat the first game even in 2021!

CoH1 is the greatest RTS I've ever played. I still play it. I have a stoopid amount of hours on steam (but a chunk of that is the lobby sim, trying to find what faction to queue as to get a single game). Truly unparalleled.

btw it is actually unbelievable the axis player recovered from the spawn camp situation. an incredible t2/3 axis game. that thing he did with the goliath, altho it failed, was AMAZING. I think his control of weapons teams is his real standout though. It came down to machine guns and pak38s.

As a former coh1 lover: coh1 was a better competitive experience when it was alive. It was a designed rts masterpiece. However constant lack of support from Relic made it never live up to it's true potential and it died a natural death. It could have been a huge e sport. Coh2 never really felt like that much fun. It is okay, but it wasn't designed with the same passion. It did however get continued support which is a big plus. COHO had a big fun factor, but just couldn't be taken seriously as a competitive game as it was ridiculousness stacked upon each other.

32:25 Actually that is what it did in the past. Both the STUH and tiger came with a squad of stormtroopers and only cost 100MP more. Thats why the old tiger callin button and the STUH callin button have guys around the tank.

i still remember those nerfs...a tear for we old folk :) and a salute to our fellows. Didn't the Tiger tank in blitzkrieg used to summon 2 tigers, too? Or it was free or something, I can't remember , it went thru so many iterations!

I have played a lot of games in the past decade and this is still one of my favorites. I installed it again the other day and have been going through the campaigns again... it's just fantastic. The graphics have held up really well and the game play is top notch. CoH2 doesn't hold a candle to it... I would put it up there with Supreme Commander.

The Allies player was absolutely fantastic at setting up bait opportunities in the beginning. Fantastic tactical planning. Just doesn't quite coordinate his tanks well enough. Those Shermans need more support and numbers.

16:05 probably rust but he should of kept the greyhound around in that fight. Either the Sherman or the m8 would be getting rear armour penetration shots and the stuh would of certainly gone down quick

I'd love in anyone played the Europe At War mod; 2 player on one of the huge maps, with game rules to have some time to set up defensive positions before engaging, force both players into a stalemate and see if they can break out of it. The real trouble with the AI is that they don't set up effective defenses, and will just zerg rush insane amounts of troops into killzones.

I used to play this a lot when I was in middle school thru early high school and got decently good at it. Coh2 never really had the sauce of 1 even tho it did add some qol things like capping. I only really thought about coh again a few days ago after almost 10 years when I was talking with my brother and he was saying how I could stomp him in like 15min but it was still really fun for him and me.. Kinda makes me want to get back into it but I dont remember most of the strats and mechanics anymore, I just remember capwalking (tho i dont exactly remember the macro).

I never noticed the building indicating units being built in it. I mean, the graphics are brown and gray, and the lights of the building are also either brown or gray, so I guess it was an easy detail for me to miss.

CoH1 looked and sounded so much more satisfying than CoH2. I love complexity of the sequel but I miss so much effects of these artillery giant blows or just tank shells. Shot from any cannon in CoH2 is flat and empty compared to CoH1

I can't answer your question but I'd recommend getting the expansions, won't hurt your wallet so much plus you'll have some great fun with it. Additionally download the blitzkrieg mod for even more fun xD

Nah man, you wanna wait till you have a little army of hellcats before going in all at once to take the tiger out. BK mod probably didn't expected dexn to get 2 extra from the combat group, so he was not being careful with the tiger as last time he saw the hellcats there were 2 and badly damaged. So it came sooner than expected. But I've seen so many casts where tiger-hellcat battles go down like this in pro play, I wouldn't say it was scripted

Thanks for the upload! I think this match really highlighted though why CoH1 never really came close to the consistent popularity that CoH2 enjoyed for a game of this genre. The underlying game design is just sloppy and not really well thought-out or refined. It isn't just the quality of life aspect that ultimately makes CoH2 the superior game, it is also the fact that CoH2 simply seems so much more refined and balanced on a game design level than it's wonky predecessor, though this has also developed over years of rebalancing and reworking units and game mechanics. CoH1 brought some much needed fresh air into the genre, but it isn't the RTS all time great that some people make it out to be, in my opinion. I still have great memories of this game, but I much prefer playing mods like Modern Combat, or Blitzkrieg over vanilla CoH1.
