The "illusion of size" you talk about is really there and it really felt like you were driving into a sizeable city when the skyline appeared! One thing though, this perspective made it really apparent how dark it is on some areas of the highway at night. If that sort of light level and lack of markings was irl, there'd be at least 10 crashes per day on that segment.

As someone who has taken the trip from Bakersfield to LA many, many times-there is a LOT that this team has gotten right, and I think that deserves a lot of praise. The initial mountainous, arid area is very characteristic of the I-5's winding journey through the LA mountains. Well-done. The decorations, road maps, foliage-everything was done well. And the entry into the ficto-LA was also very good as well, with the lights of skyscrapers becoming immediately recognizable. Ignoring some creative liberties that don't find themselves in the real-world from its created analogue, there are a few things which I think are lacking: The first is that as the journey transitions from small mountain pit-stop towns to a sparse semi-suburban setting, there is a lot more green in the scenery than is typically seen year-round. Things are almost always more dead, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the creators of this map if they were limited assets. Secondly, the map transitioned from that sparse suburban into a dense city. Newer development analogous to the San Fernando Valley were almost entirely missing. Again however, tremendous work to all the team, and thank you so much for bringing this to us.

I just don't understand why the suspension of the cars is so soft, it looks like the car will tip over every corner, in a game like this if the cars had no suspension it wouldn't make any difference, why having that extra work for a result which is not realistic.

Cities:Skylines are meant to be played viewing a city from a distance. Probably to emphasize the turning of vehicles. Somewhat similar to First-person shooter games: even with realistic graphics, the weapons are intentionally emphasized to make them easier to spot.

This is just gorgeous. I think all the landscapes just work together so well to deliver the sense of scale you were talking about. The drive was only a few minutes, but it felt like it could have been a few hours with the changing scenery and time of day. I noticed that some of your skyscrapers that were POs didn’t have lights - if you wanted to fix that, you could use regular buildings and modify them with (I believe) the Customize It! mod. That would let you turn down noise pollution, etc. in game.

Imagine a game that is similar to Spore with regards to drastic gameplay changes via progression. Start out city planning, zone and grow your city. Then, after your city is successful (or on the brink of collapse) switch to a character creator, or even be spawned into a random character, with random attributes and status. Bring in your friends, or open the server to players and start. Your successes and failures in the SimCity/skylines phase affect what opportunities are available to the players. High crime? Take the tough job as a cop cleaning up the streets, or a vigilante, or potentially other ways to manually clean up parts of the city. Or go the opposite route and embrace the seedy underbelly. Of course, creating a modern utopia would have the opposite influence on the respective roles. Giving the law abiding citizens and cops the easy time. The player controlled procedural generation of the map could potentially allow for some quite in depth gameplay opportunities and if the physics engine was up to snuff with Red Faction or similar, you and your friends could end up leveling the city as you compete for power... I know that SimCity 4 has the rush hour expansion, but it was all sprite based and rather lackluster. With a 3D engine like Cities Skylines, which then informs a much more beefy, physics enabled first or third person action physics version of the game engine, it could probably be done. It’s beyond my skills and budget to do, or even to say for certain if it’s possible, but I like to dream...
