@Adventure Archaeology how can I use a sanborn map (I am using ones from a university website in my state) to find out where old places were. There is a brewery that was outside of my town that shut down and I'm assuming was demolished in the late 1920s. When I look at google maps and go where it says, 2 miles west of the post office all I mainly see are trees but no opening in trees or anything. The map showed it was directly by a river but I can't find any sign along the river that a big brewery and glass company was ever there

I always enjoy seeing your wife get out there. I’m a collector like her, I make jewelry out of small pieces of porcelain and interesting pieces of metal and such that I find. I call my items “Desert Treasures” as I live in Arizona. So cool to see her get a Hutch.

We’re still in ice and snow here in Michigan so it’s fun to watch someone enjoying the outdoors. And 50% of our waterways are clay bottoms, never clear. But that don’t stop me. I mostly enjoy Metal detecting.

We used to ride the rapids in flooded creeks in a very tiny square one person pontoon-like bass boat. It was very light and easy to pull back upstream with a rope. We`d tie it to a tree after riding a mile or two and go back to get it when the water level fell. I used to hunt old bottles in the creeks to sell to get beer and food. Check out the fully waterproof Simplex metal detector for hunting gold jewelry and old coins in old swimming holes in creeks and lakes. There`s a small fortune in some of them.

Iron relic you had upside down. It is the cut off at the end of a railroad rail. Likely cut to get two rails to fit together for the adjoining plates to be fitted.

4:57 the iron relic you found happens to be a steel cut off from when they replaced or installed new “sticks” of track. I have a few from Thurmond WV. That’s a good piece to hang on the wall. Good find. A good portion of my family worked for or on the railroad in the past. Including my mothers ex who just recently left CSX working as “lack of proper term” a conductor and rail grinder/maintenance worker

I’m gonna send this out to you when I should be sending it out to everyone who puts text in their videos. When it’s put along the bottom and you pause it to read it, it gets covered up by the banner. So I just want to recommend that you guys run your text along the top of the video so you can read it in the pause position without it being covered up by the banner along the bottom. If the text is short, you could run it along the bottom without pausing, but if the text is long, run it along the top, so it can be paused and read

Just had an idea if you want a secondary project. For the bases of bottles that are broken too far to make a whiskey glass, that have writing on em, they could be turned into ashtrays 🤷‍♀️ or even just paperweights.
