Hey! From the Cotswolds, U.K. most older buildings here in the U.K. have basements, we call them cellars and here the cellars on a lot of old buildings are turned into flats as well, the building I live in is about 200 years old, the exterior walls are 18 inches thick, it solid! But, at some point the cellar was shut off and sealed, but unfortunately water has got in over the years and now I have a lot of damp in the flat, but, no matter how bad of a storm we have here, we’ve just had storm Darrah with 90mph gusts of wind, there was no fear of anything taking off - apart from the power, that went out, but even then, because of the thick walls, it didn’t get cold in here, same in the summer, it can be boiling outside and it stays cool inside, until the heat eventually gets through the stone, then it’s like living in an oven! But it takes about a week to get like that and let’s face it, Summer is over by then! Looking forward to your next videos, good luck!

Hi from SW Wales UK Wow you have serious skills! Plumbing, Electrics etc! Over here unless very experienced DIYer (Not me then) we usually get in a plumber or electrician especially for big jobs like replacement boilers, rewiring as there are a lot of rules and regs here...and it's not cheap!! We live in a new build but last year we had to have a new boiler fitted as the old one died, it took the plumber about a week to do it as even though our home is only 12 years old the rules and reg's have changed so a new system needed fitting! At least we now have a large closet as we don't have a tank anymore so that's a plus!😊 Looking forward to seeing the before and after video's!🤗

hello from Sunderland in England... hey, these episodes can't be that bad, surely... didn't know they built houses with bricks over there, thought you just liked the ones that blew or floated away... or eaten by insects... we don't have basements, some old houses have cellars, but usually only used by serial killers to bury the bodies [unfortunately true] landlords go to jail if they work on central heating systems, one of the few areas of tight safety regulations [naturas gas + inexperience = exploding house] keep it up young man

Paul thanks for coming over and giving the vid a watch. There’s definitely some huge difference between the US and UK when it comes to what landlords can do. The US are a lot more lenient on the repair work but most landlords over here don’t do their own repairs (I’m part of small group that does but that’s mainly because I’ve been training in the trades at a young age).
