Keep it up Spencer. Hard work, dedication, persistence, & trusting it will all work out. Thats super cool that your dad has been helping with weekly projects. It takes a lot of faith and patience on their part & what a blessing that is.. Hope he is proud! Where would we all be without em.

Great video josh!! But then again, you’ve never had a bad video. Thank you buddy!! Well Josh, I want to tell you that you won buddy!! I have given In and it’s mainly because of you and a small handful of others that I have been researching and studying before nearly 4 years now and everything I have found shows me that your method of growing with the no-till system has so many more benefits from what I have done for nearly 50 years with a conventional till system and I am actively making the transition right now so I can try and get my beds created and in and start growing ASAP but I think I will only be able to get half of my fields converted no, which will be approximately five acres and I sill convert the other five acres this fall. It’s been a challenge trying to source enough material, both compost and wood chips at one time to make the transition as well as being a sizable investment but I believe it will payoff in the end but I’m super excited to get it done and see how it works out. The first tandem axle dump truck load of compost has already been delivered but am waiting on it to dry out enough to start spreading it. I started yesterday running string lines and getting the field layed out with 30” beds and am making them 100’ long which last year my rows were 600’ but I really believe the 100’ beds will be much better and I think I will even cut some back to 50’ to make gandering row covers and stuff easier. The compost that you have been using , do you have any idea of the general makeup (ingredients) of it by chance? I have found a huge difference in types of compost out there available and I’m wondering on some of them if they will perform better than others or not. I found one that they even have ground up eggshells mixed in that they get from one of our local hatcheries not far from snow camp but wonder if I’m better using 6” of another compost and then top dressing with 1”-2” of eggshell mix compost ? Where have you been sourcing your compost from? The more I start transitioning, the more questions I have but I think it’s gonna be worth it and can’t wait to do it even tho I’ve always been a diehard conventional, old school farmer. Sometimes it’s just better to change, and all the research shows that with the type of farming And crops I’m attempting to grow, I’m an idiot for maintaining a conventional system and it’s time to convert to no-till. I’m sure I’m gonna have many questions the further I go ad will it be ok to bother you with those questions josh? I appreciate everything you’ve taught me so far and cannot wait to see the difference but am really glad the constant battle with weeds will be over!! Take care Josh, and thank you Brother!

His heating table was a great ideal. Not sure how and why I didn’t think of it first lol. I have been installing them for 20 years. there is a product called ditra-heat from schluter systems it’s a mat that the wire sits in to protect it and if you fill the need you can spread motor across it to protect it even further and will last you for years and would never have to worry about cutting it. If any one has questions post them and I’ll try to answer them.

Hey Kevin, to do the set up he has on the table, could you explain how you might set it up? Would you need to put a barrier or membrane under the wire first, then layout the wire (how would you keep it in place?), and what material goes over top (that Spencer puts his trays directly on)? Is there any way to connect a soil probe to the thermostat to keep it from going above a specific soil temp? Any insight is greatly appreciated!

@@sierralivin7962 wow. You have em pretty darn bad huh? You could always try raised beds with metal mesh at the bottom as a barrier but building and filling raised beds is $$$ Maybe in native soil you could do a double dig type thing where after you dig out topsoil, lay down metal mesh barrier then amend the topsoil and put it back in. Maybe you could do it on the sides too. Idk
