I like the white exhaust. What you said about the details reminds me about how much time it takes to get a project from 0-80% complete seems shorter compared to going from 80 to 90-95% finished.

Man that BD5 is *TINY!* I somehow hadn't really grasped it before, but now looking at it just sitting there on the table... And that's a type of frame _actually_ flown, by actual people, with a jet engine strapped to their backs... Wow!

Awesome work so far, I can't wait to see this hit the road. What you said in the end is badass and completely true. I hate seeing guys who build cool vehicles just to sell them. It takes a great amount of artistry to do a (truly) custom build and while there is something to be said for the enjoyment of the project, its sad if you dont enjoy the end result. Then on the flipside, some people collect these custom pieces just to collect them, only appreciating them as monetary object. Thank you for thinking the same way and actually saying it.

@@CaseyPutsch hey Casey, nice upsidedown fork, nice 900 belt drive torque monster, that thing will be a rocket ship outta the corners, glad yer bringing her back to life, I'm lucky enough to aquainted with people in the Duc resto scene here in Canada (i'm in N Falls), if you get stuck, need bits or advice , setup info, whatever, there's some walking encyclopedia's here you may find useful (if you can run a small lithium battery under the tail (a la 80's F1's) and keep the frame clean, it would look epic.) as they say it takes a village to restore a duc, and it sounds like you've got a dealer behind you too.. wish you the best on her.. One name i will drop , that you are going to need is Mike Guidera, from EMS,, shim guy, must have for desmo .. emsduc.com/contact-us/ , if you need inspiration ask him for his Thunderhill racing pics on the 916.. builders viagara lol... looking forward to hearing the music from the pipes.. !!!! .

duuuudeeee. fly me out there, put some wrenches in my hands, and let me live my cafe racer dreams vicariously through you! lol jokes aside, i see it wrong to flip these style bikes for money if you're not building them on commission. cafe racers and honestly a lot of modified cars are like tailored suits: a true reflection of their owners, and not everyone. in fact most people don't see and appreciate the details a true craftsman like you puts into the machine, the person you sell it to will probably love the bike, but they wont notice the ducati pedals, or the clean engine, or the carefully laid windshield molding (i thought that was neat) and if that isn't reason enough to hold on to it i don't know what is

Sure you could save money buying a working example, but buying the non-working saves a Ducati from becomes parts to never be made whole again. Daytona Coupe is my #1 unobtainium dream car. And while the creators may not possess those commissioned works of art, they are the creators which in many respects beats ownership, albeit not in initial financial gain. (Not many remember who commissioned each Rembrandt, but we all remember who Rembrandt was). But I do get the point about function built art not being utilized leaving us all a little poorer for the lack of experiences. How about a clean sheet build series? Can be any vehicle or thing. Would love to see some design-fab-build-use from square one.

No Casey, I do "Get it". You see all these shows on TV or on YT of these talented people who flip cars or bikes and they pour themselves into projects for others yet not get to cherish the special talents they have by using their talents on something that they can keep and enjoy. At some point, it has to NOT be about the money. My favorite automotive craftsman are guys like Ian Rousseau, Stacey David, Bryan Fuller and lately some guy from Ohio who likes Vipers and is a little follicly challenged. I like fabricators who are detail oriented but the vision they have for a project isn't on paper, it's in their head. I can get into watching someone shaping metal with an english wheel or power hammer. But someone with nothing more than a sand bag and a set of hammers is a true starving artist.

The 90s Yamaha FZR600 is a great buy right now. I dig the two round headlights. You can get a decent one for 1,000-1,500 if you look. Then sell it and move up after you save more money and in the mean time you become a better rider too.
