In the source material Captain Meld intervenes in the argument between Hajime and Kouki, apologising to Kouki for not properly preparing him to take a life, kind of proving Hajime’s philosophy that it’s kill or be killed in this world and further highlighting Kouki’s failure as the hero….

Your remark about Kaori being a yandere is pretty much spot on. In real world she was stalking Hajime, watching, reading and playing same things he did. THat white oni face appears every time some girld would show interest in him. Regarding the "hero"- dude was too popular for his own good. everyone always agreed with whatever he did and supported him. Most of his actions were good for everyone and unfortunately he started deluyding himself that he can't make wrong choice. That iincludes that demon chick

*Slight spoiler* about Amenogawa's (Hero) background and reasons for his "Hero Complex". ... ... ... ... ... His Grandfather was a lawyer and, from a very young age (like, 5yo), Gramps used to tell him very idealized stories about his legal career. They were more tailored for the ears of a young child, so polished up and more along the lines of "justice always prevails", "good guys are always innocent", "bad guys always get caught but get fair punishment", etc. He had intended to tell him more realistic stories showing the nuance and "gray" of the legal world when Amenogawa was older and better able to understand. But then Grandpa died rather suddenly of a heart attack before he got the chance, so Amenogawa's whole moral worldview was strongly shaped by his Grandpa's stories of a perfect, ideal legal system where good guys are always right because being right makes you the good guy. Therefore, if you're the Hero, whatever you believe to be true *must* be "right", by definition. And anyone who disagrees with you is "a bad guy". So that kicks off his whole Cognitive Dissonance regarding Hajime; according to his sense of morality, based on his venerable Grandfather who he idealized to a bit of an unreasonable degree, Hajime *should* be a Villain; a bad guy who deserves to be punished. *But,* Hajime is _also_ a Classmate and saved them all. So he's super conflicted about what to do; should a Hero be grateful that everyone was saved, or should a Hero be seeking Justice now since they weren't saved "properly"? And would the latter make *him* a bad guy because it shows ungratefulness? But how can _he_ be the bad guy if he's the Hero? The Hero is _The_ Good Guy, by definition, at least in his absolutist moral view. So he can't punish Hajime, because that's what a Bad person would do; but he also can't _not_ punish Hajime, because as the Hero, he's *obligated* to punish Bad Guys. He can't let others come to harm because he's the Hero; but if he turns away Hajime, he _knows_ he, himself, isn't capable enough so getting rid of Hajime, in turn, brings harm to people. But *not* getting rid of Hajime *also* brings harm to people. He's locked up in an impossible corner case that his absolutist morality was never meant to address in a peaceful setting like Modern Japan.

@@omargoodman2999 Feels like in a lot of these shows, there's always one who takes on the righteous role of protecting/saving everyone. No matter how small. Usually based on their sense of morality from what their view of what the ideal Japan was like and not adapting to the world they were thrown into. I always wondered how he would've faired had he been the one who fell from the bridge and lost an arm. I'd think any rational person would take 1 person at Hajime and realize what he's gone through to get there and that rules don't apply to him anymore.

@@Timmycoo If you haven't yet, I *highly* recommend reading the LN or at least the WN. I _really_ want to avoid spoiling anything, but Amenogawa is forced to confront that *very* question pretty late in the series; "what would have happened if *I* had fallen instead of Nagumo? Would I have survived and become that strong? _Could_ I have?" I won't give away more than that. If anyone wants to know the rest of his thought process and decisions, you'll have to read it or wait for the Anime to catch up.

In the light novels, Tio and Myu stayed in the main city while Hajime and others went down. The Kaori "papa" scene happened after they returned to the surface and Tio brought Myu over to the group. Also, Shea suddenly having her hammer while attending to Meld. Was due in part to Hajime making smaller versions of his "Magic Bag" ring, and giving one to each party member. She just turned around, summoned her hammer and went to town slaughtering.

5:08 nah it was obvious sins the day he acted all sus when Kaori asked what's wrong with him, she sopped her sword practice for a moment for that, and this crossed her mind then and then she was like no way, even before that but Kaori's training session part confirmed it

and he is right xD Hajime does use "gun-fu" (like kung-fu, but.. well.. with guns). A combat style involving usage of two pistols and CQC fighting techniques. He developed it himself, but inspired (as many of his things) by anime culture from his real world. Since his father was a mangaka and Hajime read a lot of manga

Lets be real Shizuku should be the actual Hero. She's not stupidly optimistic, overly pesemistic, actually knows how to fight, and doesn't mind killing if she has to. Shes one of the main reasons those "heroes" are even alive

10:23 Tia said "Sexy neglecting" here. Pretty much talkin about love triangles, cheating and things like that 16:19 Myu here repeated Tia's words from before here. I dont know why this joke got lost in English translation. But it gave me a chuckle. Also there were a few moments in this episode, where i noticed heavy differences in translations

It's funny because they "revealed" who the guy was who shot at Hajime I think in ep. 2 or 3 when Shizuku was practicing her sword swings and he was talking to himself. Also I wish Hajime would've told Kouki ('hero') guy when he was complaining about killing that Hajime also killed their classmate who turned on them lol. I will say, I did like Kaori a lot better in S2. It kinda annoyed me that she thought she could just instantly butt in to their well-working dynamic of a party, even with Tio (ngl she was cute with Myu). All because she has feelings for him.

Shia was born a "monster", it just wasnt in her nature to actually use her talents properly. Her precognition, enourmous amount of magical energy, her talent for self-strengthening magic, all of that was irrelevant before she met Hajime due to her own meek character and the nature of her clan. She was also just a level 1 when she met Hajime. Later on Shia becomes arguably the strongest character in open combat. Hajime is very verstile with good stats, skills and equipment, but hes not very good at improvising. Yue is a glass cannon. Shia on the other hand is tankt, strong, fast, and VERY hard to hit as well. Its like a last boss that bugged out not in your favor.
