Agreed! After being a stubborn Toyota loyalist for 12 years, two 5th gen 4Runners later, I am tired of the same thing, so recently bought a Gladiator and holy crap lol, even stock it is 100 x better off road than my heavily modded 4Runner! I knew they were better crawlers, but the difference is night and day!

A lot of the serious off road trucks with 40inch tires have 8 stud axles from full size one ton trucks to reduce breakage! Real big tires increase stress on drive line and steering tremendously.

As an Aussie living Stateside, I’m really excited for this. Love that you’ve picked a Jeep to go alongside the Dirty 30 and you’ve resisted overbuilding it - this is the comparison so many of us have wanted to see! This will be a great video that I think will highlight the different types of tracks and styles we have here in the U.S. and I think it will also give a lot of Aussies a healthy respect for Jeeps. I’m a Toyota (Landcruiser) guy through and through, but I’ve come to love Jeeps as well because they are built-for-purpose, insanely capable off-road, and there is a huge aftermarket. They’re getting overpriced (even moreso in Australia), but what isn’t these days?!😂

That is definitely a basic build as far as US Jeeps go, but it will do just fine on the trails. I also laughed at the duck in the dash. Y'all are definitely living the Jeep life

I’m glad to see you’ve built the Jeep “Auzzie style.” It will be interesting to see how your trip unfolds. I think you’ll come to appreciate that terrain really dictates the build and engineering choices in US off-roading. Rock crawling, mud bogging, desert racing, narrow forrest trails-to name a few terrains; the rigs for each can be vastly different. It looks like you’re going to be mostly rock crawling. Can you do it on stock axles, drivelines and 35’s? Yes. Can you do it better on one ton axles, heavy duty suspension and driveline mods and 40” tires? Yes. You’ll winch less, stress less and break less. I really like the Auzzie builds. I think they are great all-rounders. The fact that they have a lot of overland/camping focus is a reflection of the vast wildernesses in AU. It will be interesting to watch them perform here in the US!

Hi mate what do you boys in the us do with the dana 44 diffs? Just bent mine in the weekend thrasher and can't find a straight one near me considering a d60 swap.
@charlesboetel1324 Жыл бұрын
Here in the states we sleeve a tube inside the front axle tubes, gusset the "C"s and gusset the housing with steel that bridges the center chunk. Or you can replace the housing with a stronger one, or go full 1 ton 60s etc. Stronger shafts and knuckkes ball joints etc. Are common and not too expensive. I run 37"s with just sleeves and c gussets, no problems yet.
@themadpants781 Жыл бұрын
@@AdmissionGaming Weekend wheelers might order a beefed up axle housing, but if you are running big tires and do serious wheeling, a dana 60 is the way to go. If going the junkyard route, the dana 60 front from a Ford Super Duty 2005+ is the preferred choice, as with a bit of adapting, you can make the wheel speed sensors work etc. Otherwise, Dynatrac, currie, spicer all make bolt in D60's.
@mails5054 Жыл бұрын
@@AdmissionGaming usually get an aftermarket one, which is really expensive, but a lot of people will truss them. You might to be able to get a shop to try to straighten it and then weld on a truss

I am a big fan of the show here in the states. I also have a 2013 jeep Rubicon 4 door 6 speed, similar to your build, but with a few more things beefed up. You are running the iconic tracks that I love, but our hard track get insane! Much more demanding than what you are running. That is why our builds are bigger! ❤ 4x4 24 7

@handbannana3610 Жыл бұрын
The Rubicon is definitely doable locked and on 35s. (little sluice is probably off the list this year though the massive snow tore it up pretty good) Part of the reason most jeeps you see are on 37s or 40s is the longer wheelbase of the four door jeeps. The long wheelbase is nice for climbing obstacles but the breakover angle is terrible on smaller tires. Wheeling in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is actually one of the places where the agility of a shorter wheelbase is kind of nice.

As an American who wheels an engine swapped 80 series on a 2 inch and 35’s I can almost guarantee you’ll be impressed with that Jeep and how far it’ll make it. If I had to guess the biggest failing WILL be the break over angle. Big rocks, small lift and smaller tires means you just don’t have that angle. So either you smack it hard and pin the throttle or you go around
