Epic Large Driveway Clean - Beautiful Clay Block Paving

Good afternoon, a beautiful clean up project. All that black dust comes from the road outside!! Even though the home owner has ornamental trees growing next to the border, that dust keeps filtering through. It all looks so neat and tidy now, worthwhile spending time on the cleaning job. It is amazing how pollutions can cause inconveneiece. Take care go well.

That drive was huge! Hate to think how long that took but it looked absolutely mint after it was done. The bricks looked like new. 👍💪

16:10 we have a block paving with ridges in the bricks, was told by one company the previous person who put sand down should never have done that and should have used granite instead which they did not have. Since then have had weeds grow through. I was told that the driveway has drainage underneath and sand blocks it? dry kiln sand just falls straight through the gaps not like this drive. Can you work on that? Can you resolve the weed issue that they keep coming back up every few months. I have washed the drive several times in the past myself with a karcher and given up trying. Now full of weeds

Hello yes, that is correct. You have permeable paving blocks which are designed to allow water to soak through. The gaps should be filled with permeable paving grit rather than sand. There is no way of stopping the weeds permanently but a weed treatment can stop it for a few months.

Why do you apply sand at the end?

Hi the blocks are laid on a layer sand and then sand brushed in between the gaps to make the surface more stable and prevent movement. When the blocks are cleaned some of that sand is blasted out so it needs to be replaced.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods. One of the good things about using a turbo nozzle is you can direct the sand and dirt into piles as you go. A surface cleaner isn't always quicker because the whole thing would have to be washed down again after and on a driveway this big it would have all dried out by the time you have finished with the surface cleaner.

Roughly how much would you charge for a driveway like that...? I have a similar sized one also with clay blocks.

hi approx 6 to £700 depending on additional treatments such as biocide etc.
