This is a nice trick, deffo giving this a go, already I'm thinikg about adding an extra bit of flair to it, I think it would be nice to load the same phrase to your sample player and right at the end of the build up you create silence the track and play the full vocal again once more as a sample before bringing the volume back in and starting to cut
