Simple alternative way to get the same result. Turn on a delay FX to 1/2 beat. Then simply crank your wet/dry knob between 0-100% to get the same result. Benefit of this is you free up your second deck for an entirely different track

Hi Carlo! Just want to ask if you can make a video tutorial on how you set your Echo effect on different BPM/Genre hopefully with a DJM as well. Ive been using the echo effect for a long time now but sometimes I still have difficulty specially with the beats because sometimes the 1/2 beat (which is what I always use) doesn't sound good on some BPM/Genre when I echo out. A full tutorial on how to use the echo effect would be better! thanks champ! :)

Hey Carlo, did you remix this track? Haven’t been able to find this remix elsewhere.
@GuttaBoyTV6 жыл бұрын
Depending where you're from it can be chasing or chopping or dubble (double) effect when you move the crossfader like so with the track..that is usually called triple chop ..I haven't seen guys use tricks unless they're set is boring and they need some type of gimmick. I may be out of place for this but if you started on vinyls, and mastered scratching and mixing you probably didn't need all these tricks. Well time scratches and gap fillers were a true art, still is. All love tho my man, maybe a new comer can use this point. Salute!!!

Awesome vid Carlo! just 2 questions: Can this trick work with other off-beat times (like 1/4 beat or 1 beat delays)? Also, I've seen scratch DJs move the channel fader up and down quickly to cut up a song - Is that the same trick as this video? If not, I'd love a video on that trick!
@dojibwe16 жыл бұрын
1 beat behind, 2 beats behind, 4 beats behind, 1/2 beat behind (as shown here) or 1/2 beat ahead. I've heard it called Trick Mixing: J.Rocc of Beat Junkies fame, really perfected this technique. Peep Soundbombing part II to hear him use it often in a mix. Angelo gives a great tutorial on each of these as well...

Why though? Back when DJing was invented (in the seventies or whenever) it was created because the DJs found out that if they'd mix songs rather then play one song and then another with gaps or talking in between, they kept the dancefloor, well, dancing. Fast forward to the era of software mixing and it seems DJs are bored so much with their craft that they feel the need to do something to the songs they are playing... Consider this: does whatever it is you are doing behind the decks to keep yourself entertained keep your audience entertained? Is your goofing around really adding to their night out? Are the songs that you selected to play to your audience really that lame that the only way you can get your crowd interested is by opening a bag of tricks? LESS truly IS MORE. In the nineties the European rave scene certain didn't have bored DJs manipulating their music in unnecessary ways. I only remember Carl Cox adding an occasional and well times scratch to his mix. And I also remember Dave Clarke using this particular technique, but only rarely throughout the course of his set.
@bandobeats92546 жыл бұрын
