Thanks Simon, the previous TG-5 also had this feature so watch out for those too. The Olympus Tough TG line are fun little pocket cameras as well as being rugged. I just have to feel brave enough to take it snorkeling on holiday next time. Thanks again for watching Simon.

Hi So glad i came across your channel. I bought this camera last year for underwater photography. And i put it away after my trip. Now im super excited to bring it back out and start playing with the macro side of the world. Also i definitely see the benefits of the stacking feature. Thank you so much! ❤

It's a great little camera. I have a few different videos using the camera for other types of photography. The live composite mode is great for light trails or star trails.

Great Video Andrew, A Very Impressive Camera and fabulous images, those stacked images are brilliant! Raw files from a compact and a ring light insane! thanks for sharing

Thanks for watching Tony. The ring light is just one of the many official accessories you can add to the tg-6 including fisheye and telephoto lens adaptors - prices vary but the ring light was a fairly reasonable £27.00.

@@AndrewWaltonPhotography Yes Andrew I am very keen to buy one! I have recently had the experience where moisture has got into one of my L series lenses I had bought second hand! I have never used it in the rain but it goes to show that nothing is weather proof, I like the idea that this camera is the same MP as my phone but 1/3 of the price and shoots RAW and 4 k video, Olympus has be my camera choice 2nd only to Canon
@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography Жыл бұрын
@tonymckeage1028 I'm enjoying using it, like any camera it isn't perfect, but I'm pleased I bought it. The zoom is short because it is a weather sealed unit, but it still zooms optically further than my phone seems to.

They are good little cameras. Yes, you could get better macro shots with a mirrorless camera and an expensive macro lens, but this camera still takes great images and is so versatile.

Very impressive!! Wonderful work! I just bought the TG-7! Amazing camera for adventure, travel with kids, macro and underwater! After the TG5 and TG6, the iQ and sensor technology could be better, but I’m still very happy with the Camera!

Thanks for watching. I do think the macro capability is the best thing about these cameras. Live Composite is a close second. Considering it is wrapped up in a tough, compact body is fantastic. Sadly, the size of the camera does mean a compromise with the size of the sensor. I have been very happy so far with my TG-6.
@TITAOSTEIN
@TITAOSTEIN Жыл бұрын
Indeed, the small sensor is a trade off. Also the accessories could be affected with a bigger sensor. Nonetheless I would love to see a little improvement in both, sensor and processor. Those improvements would show the OMDS commitment with new and innovative products.

Sorry for rhe late comment Andrew! Looks like an amazing little camera! Great quality, especially the stacked images, but rhe unstacked ones definitely worked good on a couple of those shots. The last image with the aphids was fantastic! That definitely would be a great camera to have along on a hike here in the mountains when i dont want to lug the Sony and tripod around. Reslly enjoyed it pal. Hope toubare doing well and having a great week!
@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography Жыл бұрын
No worries Paul. I did wonder if you'd fallen foul of a bear after not hearing from you 😄. Hiking is what the camera is made for so it will take a few knocks in it's stride. To be honest it probably weighs less than a FF macro lens for it's a good bag companion to a dslr/mirrorless with landscape lenses on the off chance of some macro images. Thanks for watching Paul and have a great week (hopefully no more storms).

After watching I went on to ebay, ready to splash, and I saw that I would need to sell a lot of my beloved babies in order to justify spending that much! maybe in a year or so. The TG-6 came out in 2019, but it is based on the TG-4 (2015) and TG-5 (2017). The updates make the 6 the best option, especially if you want to take it under water. Thanks for watching Paul. 🙂

Those are some very impressive close-ups and I can see why you love this camera. Clearly having the LED ring is highly recommended I imagine. The focus stacking is super impressive and I really like that side shot of the ex-Dune Beetle has epic detail and sharpness.
@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography Жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis, the LED ring is highly recommended. It costs me an additional £27 but really helps with macro images. On paper, a 12mp compact camera doesn't sound impressive, but I think given the small sensor, Olympus was wise not to cram in as many pixels as possible. Being a smaller sensor, there is noise in the images but no worse (probably slightly less) at 100% than our FZ82 images. Thanks for watching.

If you own either the TG-4,5, or 6, it's worth giving it a go. If you aren't steady enough or the wind is blowing your subject around, then the camera will let you know if it is unable to create a stacked image. The results certainly impressed me. Thanks for watching.

Packs quite a punch that camera. I would honestly be tempted to buy one if I didn’t already own far too many cameras….might make a great acquisition if my son starts showing a proper interest in photography in a few years. Indestructible, compact, good image quality, good functionality and ease of use….what’s not to like?!

Too many cameras? Is that a thing 🤔 😀 I used the excuse that this would be ideal for taking out walking in wet weather. Thanks for watching Dave, its pretty good for a compact although I'd still like a street photography compact like a Ricoh GR or Fuji xf10 etc....what we're you saying about too many cameras again!

Pretty impressive for a compact camera. The stacking is really seamless - that would be a big time saver compared to doing it in post. Do you get to keep all of the individual shots as well as the stacked one? Great images - particularly the insects. 👍
@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Robert. Sadly you can't save the stack (well if you can I haven't found out how yet 😄) . I have the camera set up to shoot RAW and Jpeg so at the moment I get an unstacked Jpeg and RAW plus the stacked Jpeg. I hadn't realised, depending on the shot, the camera can take up to 8 shots in the stack not 5, I mentioned in the video.

@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography Жыл бұрын
For regular photography (family snaps etc) I would say that is isn't much different from the quality you will get from your phone. BUT, if you want to do macro photography, or want a tough camera that you don't mind if you get wet or drop it (for example if you are a hiker) then this is great. It also had a great long exposure feature for star trails/vehicle light trails which is fantastic (if you add a neutral density filter you can do daytime long exposure too.) I have demonstrated these techniques in other TG-6 videos on the channel. One downside to this camera is the zoom or rather the lack of it, distant subjects are sadly out of reach. I do enjoy using the TG-6 but I am lucky in that it is not my only camera.

great video, I use the Tg for underwater, would you say stacking without a tripod is possible or impossible? I know a fast moving object like a fish would be more difficult, but what about a nudibranch?

Jim, all those shots were taken handheld. There may be issues with the amount of available light underwater, but if you have a setup with lighting, then it could possibly work.

It doesn't always appear, for the majority of photos I've taken with this camera I've not suffered the issue. I did find out that it is impossible to shoot infra-red with this camera, everytime I tried with a 720nm filter, there was a huge hot-spot in the middle of the image.
