God I’m happy to see another prototype Mickey animation. He literally looks so cool…like sonic the hedgehog kinda-cool. He definitely would appeal to the teenage/adult audience. Hopefully one day Disney recognizes him.

Eh... Personally, I'm not the biggest fan. It's the head really, the really big forehead just looks a little ugly to me, like it doesn't mesh well with the big ears. I get the Sonic comparison, but to me, it feels more like one a those Sonic copycats. Trying to be cool, while missing what makes the character timeless. I mean, Sonic's design philosophy was already based on Mickey's (folks call Sonic a Punk Mickey for a reason), so really, there wasn't much point in going full circle while further spiraling downwards. But, y'know, maybe that's just me.

@@Mike14264 sonic was based around Felix the cat I’m pretty sure, but to me they’re quiet different. Prototype Mickey looks like it takes inspiration of video game characters like rayman & sonic, he doesn’t loose his rubberhose aspects and he doesn’t feel clunky. The way hes animated is completely different to sonic that’s safe to say (he still squash and stretches) lol. I like the design it just feels edgy with grimdark tone, but either design will still work in any grim setting. Glad to see a different opinion, but I don’t really see the “ugly” aspect.

@@rookinrook weird... I thought I had replied. Anyway, maybe "ugly" ain't the right word. More like "disproportionate". But again, it may be a matter of personal taste. To me it looks like he tries a little too hard to look cool.

@@Mike14264 I mean you could look at the reference sheet of him cause everything is up to part. What would be disproportionate? What are you referencing? He is rubberhose so ofcourse it’s gonna get silly. I’ve notice that most folk don’t like seeing Mickey Mouse change drastically, but I am the total opposite. I love creativity. I’m not here to change your mind though just giving my reason :p

@@rookinrook I mean his head. It's just... weirdly shaped to me. Like a trapezoid with way too big ears. You know the logo of the game, the inky ears? I saw an old version of it, it was the exact same thing but with a round nose below it, and then I realized it was meant to represent this stylized shape of his head. Even that logo with the nose looked weird to me. Makes it feel like a "forced teenager Mickey", which already makes little sense since I already read comics where Mick appears as a teen and he still doesn't look like that 🤣 But for real, that's really my one ick with the design. I get that folks love to see different takes on the diminutive rodent, so do I. Like, the stylization from the most recent cartoon series? That one's great, love that stuff! It's wacky, yet in a way that enhances what makes Mickey, well, Mickey! Same goes for Donald and Goofy, who even gets his old "Dippy Dawg" attire! This one tho, I feel like it kinda distances itself rather than emphasizing it. Don't worry tho, I'm not here to "say you're wrong for liking it". I'm very aware that this is merely a matter of taste, and I'm glad you do like it, even if it ain't me cuppa tea.

I wonder the same thing too. I'm glad that this one was found! This shows a different opening to how Mickey got sucked into Wasteland. But I'm pretty sure that this was a test animation of how would the game look like.

@@Semy_04 From test/prototype footage of Epic Mickey dated between the years 2006-2007, we only have 2 of this one and another footage that was uploaded on KZbin a while ago. Man, how I wish there was a leaked Epic Mickey prototype dating from the years 2008-2009.

I miss this game series not gonna lie, I wish that I could’ve gotten to play both games but sadly I only ever played the 2nd one, that being said I feel like Epic Mickey 1 and 2 were both good games in their own right. I wish Disney decided to bring this series back along with the voice actors for Mickey and Oswald 🥺
