NEW VINTAGE & ANTIQUE MALL TOUR | DESIGNER VARIETY
Epic Antiques is my only Seattle retail space, and there’s a good reason! This fabulous vintage emporium features showrooms of European and Asian interiors, massive amounts of mid-century design, big prop-worthy antiques and a large mall where I sell my modernist wares.
Our tour starts with the fancy, the front showrooms are replete with elegant French, Continental European and Asia antiques, displayed to attract designers to furnish whole rooms (a table of carved busts begs the question, take one or all?). Bergere chairs, chandeliers, girandoles and armoires blend with clam shells, fountains and statuary in grand, timeless displays.
Moving on to the main entrance, the loading dock opens to a large display of garden decor and yard art, the start of the Tom Gorz Collection. His uncanny knack of staying on trend shows in his huge selling space next to the antique mall section, where tables full of silver plate and an Italian brass shelf stocked with barware open onto room-sized vignettes. Each is an arrangement of furniture, decorative accents and nearly anything you might find in a room you entered in the mid-20th century! Designer names of the past like Pearsall and Selig and Eames are in abundance, and you could pretty much just move in and live in some of the settings.
There’s enough to make me come back to film, but today I have to leave a painting by Seattle’s Joe Reno, so I’m taking you to see my spaces! The first is a newly restocked, crowded wall of fun and fascinating mid-century wares, many of which (like Haeger ewers, chrome stools and orange hats) we’ve found together recently in my Kentucky videos. Down the hall, a shared space of Art Deco delights mix streamlined ceramics and a Mandarin influenced dresser set with lamps, glass and more wonderful 1930s finds. The lady on the masthead directs us to our wrap-up, but we’ll be back for more Epic Antique adventures in our next video!
Here's more of the antique and vintage wares we get to see in this video:
Chinese temple floor vases, French Provincial armoires, Italian crystal chandelier, cuff links and tie bars, toile bergere chairs, grand piano, cookie cutters, blue and white porcelain, furs, mirrors, wood/brass folding table, spiked collar, Victorian memorial wreath, Architectural Pottery hourglass planter, gilded Chinese cabinet, concrete deer, Austrian Bronze lamp, Seattle crock, burl table, solid plank 1860s farm table, silver plate serving ware, bronze sculptures, Shaker revival set, Playpen sectional, tulip tables, sling chairs, Danish modern cabinet, rosewood cabinet, Majestic lamp, Majestic fireplace, French Exposition pig truffle dispenser, Venetian glass, mid-century listed oil paintings, Frankoma modernist lines, barware, Seattle World’s Fair medallion, 1970s store shelf, Austin Products swan, Haeger and Red Wing, Bob Guge carved bird, Trenton Art Pottery, black amethyst glass, Weller Lorbeek wall pocket, Scotty tie bar, rotary phones, 1960s modernist lamps, etc.

Hi, just a FYI. The driftwood wasn't driftwood. It looked like either a limestone stalactite or a stalagmite with branches containing vugs or small cavities filled with small crystals if anything. The limestone could have coated a branch, similar to the petrification of trees in our West. Easy to make the mistake. In many countries collecting these from limestone caves has become illegal because it takes millions of years to create one the size that was in the armoire. Limestone droplets fall, leaving a minuscule layer of limestone on the top (stalactite: it must hold on tight) and creating the limestone stalagmites (you might trip over it). Someone filled the little vugs with large crystal formations for effect, making the piece more interesting. The original crystals would probably be tiny, druzy inclusions. Thanks for reading. I love your channel.

The carved walnut head was absolutely beautiful! Do you happen to remember the price? The folding brass topped table I have always referred to as a Damascus table, not sure if that term is right or not. Love the French armoire being converted to a display cabinet. The bronze of the hammer thrower!! Very much to my taste. I imagine that would have been pricey! The brass display cabinet is very much my taste too. Was that a statue of Paul Newman? I loved your comment about the Hugh Hefner sofa set, but I don’t remember the 70s like that!

It looked a lot like Paul Newman but I think that was a coincidence?

I've thoroughly enjoyed this tour of the Epic Antique Mall, every single minute of it. I am especially intrigued by the smallish aqua piece at 20:00 (under the picture of "George Harrison") Is it a vase? I love the color and shape so much. Looking forward to the next installment. Thanks.

I'm glad, it really is quite a place! That's a Blenko peacock blue squat bottle vase from around 1965 you see at 20:00, I don't think that one is very expensive, probably $29 if I recall. They do ship as well (206) 945-2572

That Majestic lamp 16:12 is great !! I've never seen that square telephone here in Quebec. 21:15 I wonder where in canada it was used ?

I am a huge fan of those lamps! I see the square phones on the west coast, maybe it was just in BC/Alberta?

I love the modernist ladies at 20:32 and the purple bottle behind the bird. Do you mind sharing prices on those pieces, please? Thank you!

Have you visited Fleur de Flea in Louisville, Ky? I’ve heard good things but haven’t made the trip from Nashville. I follow on Instagram and they look pretty great.

Very cool. Im surprised they allow dogs. Might want to make sure your dog has gone potty. Lol. Or have a healthy credit card.

Yes, it's a strange phenomenon but in the antique business, most stores are dog-friendly. There's a boxer who comes to work with the showroom owner every day

I have a woman’s head shelf like the one that you just showed but you said it was from the 1800s. It has been on my wall for several years. I really like her but don’t know anything about her. Do you know anything else about them?
