EPIC Mountain Views - Camp & Cook - Dispersed Van Camping In Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest

We stumbled across the most beautiful campsite we've ever found while exploring the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington State. Jen also cooked the best steak I've ever had in my life. Definitely an adventure to remember!

Thank you! Sometimes it sucks waking up at dawn to get drone shots, but it's almost always worth it. For that entire forest road we thought we were gonna get skunked and not find a site, then at the very end of the road that spot appeared. It was a magical site for sure. Thank you for the comment!

EPIC INTRO. Crazy the amount of logs they left next to that landing, I wonder what was wrong with them? Thanks for the video I enjoyed! Interestingly, I just watched a Foresty Forest video where he was hiking in B.C. and he said on a clear day you can see Mt. Baker from here.

Thank you! There seems to be tons of opportunities to camp up near Mt. Baker so we definitely want to go back and explore some more. We basically went in blind not knowing what to expect or if we'd find anything good. This road was mostly a bust right up until the very end. 😀

How do you know where you can and can't camp on the mountain?

We use GAIA GPS for all our navigation location scouting. By using the "land use" map, we can see exactly which land we are allowed to camp on. Usually any land designated as state forest, national forest, or Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is free to camp on.

Howdy. I have the same van and am thinking about adding bigger tires. Looks like you all have 265/75/16 tires. Did you have to lift the van to make them fit? If not, do they rub at all when turning or going over bumps? And did they affect your fuel economy much (any noticeable drop in MPG)? Thanks!

Yes, we have 265/75/16 AT tires. They actually came with the van, so I don't have anything to compare it to with gas mileage. We typically get around 100 miles per 1/4 tank. I usually fill up around 365 miles or so per tank. I think we might be able to go 400 miles per tank if we pushed it to near empty, but I'm never willing to risk that out on the trails. There is no rubbing at all. However on our last trip we took some trail damage to the inner wheel well trim, and now we get some rubbing when making a hard right turn. But we can fix that by pushing the trim piece back to where it was. Also, we have the 5.4 liter V8 engine. :) And we did not lift the van, although it sits super high.
