In this video, I provide an overview of free camping in Washington State. In this overview of free camping in Washington State, I walk you through twelve of the 26 free camping locations that Melody and I visited in Washington State during August and September 2021. In addition, we have published a separate KZbin video for each of the free camping locations shown in this video and created a playlist to complement this overview of free camping in Washington State. You may find our related videos within the following playlist titled: Free Camping in Washington State: • Free Camping in Washin...
There is an abundance of free camping in Washington State. Some of the camping locations we visit in the aforementioned playlist required a Washington State Discover Pass. We paid $35 for our Discover Pass. Once we obtained this annual pass, all camping in the locations that required the Discover Pass was free, irrespective of the number of nights stayed. Information about the Washington State Discover Pass may be obtained here: www.discoverpass.wa.gov/133/W...

Quincy lake is a neat area especially if you like trout,bass,crappie, and blue gill fishing there is great fishing and you have several other lakes right there close around it and the potholes are close as well. It's dessert with rocky areas and cliffs carved out from ancient volcanic activity. Watch out for northern Pacific rattlesnakes though if you go hiking off the main areas and keep tent and camped doors screems closed so you don't get scorpions or black widows. Elbe hills is super fun if you like to ride qauds,4x4ing, etc. Go try the busy wild and see if you can make it without breaking your truck. Been to all these places almost. Excited because it's summer time again and not cold and wet for camping.

Grew up in these areas of central Washington and played hard there. Last visit to Quincy lakes area found it garbage infested in the early 2000's, hope its better now. Live up by Lk. Roosevelt now and love it. Great video except your mispronunciation of many areas as I grew up in Wenatchee and Moses lake

I just discovered your channel and subscribed immediately a few days ago. I live in Central Washington and have been truck camper camping for over 30 years, but have never ventured to the places you have described. Now that I've seen these places through your channel, I want to do more exploring. I've always wondered about camping near Quincy Lake, but was concerned about what I might find after the drive getting there. Now, I think I need to make a trip soon. Thank you for what you are providing. Your detailed commentary and videos of the campgrounds are top notch.

I discovered your channel today after searching for free campsites to explore in WA in my new to me 30 ft Class C. I happened to be at Quincy Lakes just this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it (I was all the way down the road by the reservoir near the south gate which is now closed due to vandalism 😔 but it was an easy enough drive from the north gate). Thank you for sharing! My area is eastern WA, if you have other areas to share I'd love to see them. I'm hoping to stay at Folsom Farm/Fishtrap on one of my next outings.

Thank you for this video! After moving from AZ to WA a couple years back, it has felt like there is hardly anywhere to boondock out here. Thats compared to most states in the southwest, which have large amounts of BLM land. I tell folks I think that's a part of why the major cities out here have such a homeless issue! There are not many places people can live free legally. This video not only helps me in recreation, but is maybe helping folks find respectful places to live, too. The content is appreciated. PACK IT IN-PACK IT OUT FOLKS!

People cannot live on BLM land. They can visit for a period of time. Plus most homeless people leave a bunch of garbage behind. We have homeless camps around in Tacoma & there always piles of garbage all around.

As a Washington guy please be sure to take care of these areas because some aren't monitored by park rangers and waste management. If you pack it in be sure to use provided garbage cans and if not pack it out and take it home or we will lose the free places because they're gonna gave to pay someone to clean it up and if that doesn't work we just lose the right to use these spots cause they shut them down. A few years ago I went to spot called Lost Lake up by stampede pass which I believe to be warehouser land and logging property. Been camping,hunting g,and fishing the stampede area since the 80's. Then one day a few years ago I head into Lost Lake to fish for brookies and rainbows and some idiot threw a rave party with what looked like a couple hundred people by the amount of garbage left behind. These people literally left tents and sleeping bags behind,keg cups everywhere,beer and liquor bottles with some floating in lake, cut down a bunch of trees and mudded up the place driving in areas that hadn't, glow sticks and party favors Nd assorted party garbage littered throughout the entire are even up in the trails and trees. Someone attempted to clean and there was several small mountains of garbage bagged up. They then must've realized it would take a couple truck loads literally and gave up. Whoever it was if they ever see this I want you to know you're a huge scumbag piece of s**t.anyway it's stuff like that in which ruins it for everyone else and I gotta live here and enjoy my outdoor recreation so it pisses me off. I'm sure you are responsible campers though right?

Thank you for sharing this. I rarely video these trashed camping locations because viewers simply don't want to see it. Standing in front of all the garbage and debris and sometimes discarded furniture, against the backdrop of an otherwise naturally beautiful area is more than sad. It makes one angry. I don't believe in picking up the garbage as a solution. The only way to stop this is the write citations, fine, and imprison these folks. Lou

Thanks for the video. Where would be the nearest drinking water and dump station located in those areas? what is the weater like in late Aug and Sept in those areas? Especially around Baker lake? Where does one buy the WS Discover pass.
@thewanderingshores

Crafty we were actually there around that time this year. We stayed at Les Hilde in Aug/Sept as well as Sahara Creek and Winatchee. The weather is great at that time of year, in most of those places we were one of the only ones in the camping area (during the weekdays) the weekends got a little busier. You can pick up the discover passes as just about any gasstation or recreation area at the ranger stations. Water and Dumps are close to most of the places we stayed and usually we did a review on campendium that will give you those locations as well. Hope this helps.

Update Harry Osborne and it's near by activity locations are closed including target shooting at Medford pit. Reason is because of on going trash dumping and vandalism. Extra sad because I di securityfor crown timber right by there 2002 to 2004 and that was a big problem then was talk of doing this back then and of groups taking action to stop this bad behavior.

We used to trash clean-up at the Medford pit once or twice a year. DNR would bring us a big dumpster and we would make a day of it, with a big BBQ at the end. Too many others ruined a great place to shoot targets.
