I get that it's an expensive purchase, and with the builds, it pushes this into the 70k's, but when you consider not having to pay rent, the van covers transportation and cost of lodging...and the ability to live your dream. This is a sound investment. This new generation has it figured out. Van life today has come a long way since the 70's.

If you do the build yourself it save's money. Plus, I love Mercedes,but go with a less expensive van. My bf works at a dealership. He says to make sure to choose a van that can be worked on in a small town. You can't find a tech in just any camping spot especially boondocking. He has a good point but I'd never tell him this.

@@lorihutton4719 we're so lucky around the world as there are handy people everywhere, I've seen people overlanding in all different makes of vehicles/motorcycles in Tajikistan, Kajikistan, Armenia, all countries in Africa, South America, Mongolia, Russia etc., and they were in the middle of nowhere when they broke down, and were fixed by a local mechanic/farmer. It's actually better to break down in those non-Western countries than ours as they can build the pieces required and have you on the road in no time, unlike our expensive Westernised mechanics who charge us an arm and a leg. You can tell your bf that it doesn't matter what you choose, they can all be worked on, no problems at all. If it's the computer, oh well, that's just the sign of the future, eventually they'll be electric and all computerised, so that piece of advice will go out the window...lol!

That totally suits him! I always wonder where so many of these young people get the funds for such exotic abodes! Some of these vans can add up to exorbitant expenses! Not to mention the tiny homes!! There are full on tiny homes cheaper than this van!! He’s very fortunate to be able to enjoy it. But he also seams very mature & down to earth! Great video! Great van! Great human! Thanks!!

Windkisssed as far as I know, some people save for years for the van and conversion, some have family willing to help for the price of parts and maybe a meal, and some just work on weekends and do what they can when they work a little extra. A friend of mine spent every other weekend for four years working on her van and just did what she could afford on that paycheck and then when she was ready she sold her house and used the money to travel for a few weeks before stopping to do some seasonal work to save up for another round. That’s what I hope to do with my boyfriend!

Shower setup is deffo the most interesting about this build, as it's one of the hard nuts to crack and hard choices to make, more then often leading to a gympass instead ... so a bit disappointed there wasn't more info on it, f/e where he got the screen, how he lined the interior, any extra vans to keep moisture down during a shower etc. ... but still nice to watch regardless, and at least nice to see where he put it and the dimensions and other use of the space.

@YourMajesty143
@YourMajesty143 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't buy new. The misconception is that newer means less breakdowns. Breakdowns happen to every any vehicle, regardless of age, but rather bc of use and improper maintenance. Always buy used. Let the previous owner eat the depreciation, the repair costs, the upgrades that are necessary (suspension, solar, new tires, etc). If you're concerned with cheaper models, it's up to you to do the due diligence of researching the manufacturers history with repairs (Mercedes Sprinters are the worst, most costly repairs, hard to get expensive parts, and hard to find mechanics who know how to repair them). Also research if a certain van model had any recalls, and to review the CARFAX & VIN of the vehicle you intend on purchasing. There are thousands of used RVs & Vans that have been well kept, but bc they became money pits, are being sold at a loss. But that's ok, buyer hesitancy often means more options for me.
