You should see the conditions of some cemeteries and graveyards in America would bring tears to your eyes. Long neglected because families have died or moved. People who are suppose to take care of them and don't. I personally know many that people could walk right on top of them and never know there are people buried there. Hurts my heart.

Land is meant for the living and the soil is meant to plant in or walk on. Showing respect whilst people live is a better policy than recognizing personal empty sentiment.

I am so fortunate my dad is inserted a a National Cemetery where it is kept immaculate throughout. I've been to relatives cemeteries and often they are in disrepair and unkempt/unsafe.

What a mystical walk back in time. A glorious tower that is gorgeous. It would be a mistake to say you stumble into finds. You and Sue put a great deal of effort into finding these vaults. Going through the thicket to find the back of the vault was genius. When you took video of the old part of the cemetery, I could imagine all the mourners wearing their black grieving clothes and standing at each grave. Thank you for this stunning and magical walk!

A Crypt that size usually means someone important. So I googled and this info came up............Abraham Morris (1752 - 13 February 1822) was an Irish banker. He sat in the Irish House of Commons for County Cork from 1791 to 1797. 🙂

Beautiful Cemetery....such a shame no one takes care of the older ones, while I love the ivy growth and it adds a sense of mystery it would be nice to know there are older stones that most can't see. Gorgeous old tower...shame they throw trash into it 😒. Thank You for showing it to us.

That is one thing that I’ve always lamented for the American People, myself included, is that we are such a very young Country. We do not have the rich Histories of Our European Brother’s and Sister’s across the pond! There are some very beautiful old cemeteries in the Deep South, Florida also has many as their areas were more settled for Much longer than the US proper! In North Carolina where I live, w you may drive 5 to 10 miles and se as many small Cemeteries. They aren’t Family, but look rather to have almost been extended Neighborhoods, or Small Communities, where now there are entire County Cemeteries! There are anywhere from 25 to 50 graves but I have seen those with even less. The worst part here and in the Deeper South, these Small Cemeteries, could be taken back by the forests that over time we have carves our Towns and Cities out of. Once they are no longer maintained, like many found on this channel, they are taken back by nature! It is surprising to see rural homes, even those it neighborhoods surrounded by Forests, how quickly, in just one year, how it become difficult to see what is there! There is a house that was condemned on a crossroads, that today looks like a hill, covered and overgrown like the woods behind it! If you didn’t know there was a house there, you would never know it was there! These treasure troves of history that Our Fine Friend explores for us and allows us on the journey, are such beautiful places filled with surprise’s and History. As you said Our very ancestor’s may lie in those magical places! There should be Societies created to help maintain our histories!

I'm in the Medical Field and people who had a strong loving bond seem to die so quickly after their husband or wife died. I've seen days, weeks, months, even a year. They would be in good health. I believe they grieve to death. They just want to be with their love.

So I assume originally you would have taken that path and really only the metal door would have been there ? Now it’s bricked over, except the hole ? Very neat I wish we could go in there wow. That tower is amazing I wonder if it was just the bell cause it doesn’t seem like used to be steps or nothing. I think those coffins fell apart but they took remains, thankfully really. Such a strange place all those stones plain as day and then hidden little crazy crypts. Very neat find ! 😍

Abraham Morris was an Irish banker. He sat in the Irish House of Commons for County Cork from 1791 to 1797. Morris was involved in a feud with Art Ó Laoghaire, and ordered Ó Laoghaire's death in 1773. Wikipedia. Looked this up before you said the date being in the 1800s

"XXXIX" means 39. "X: equals "10" three 10'a = 30. "IX" - 9. If you put the "I" before a Roman numerals it means you minus one from the Roman numeral. In this case ten. So, 1 - 10 = 9. If it was IV that would equal 4. If the "I" is AFTER the Roman numeral (i.e. XI ) that wold equal 11. If the "I" is AFTER the Roman numeral it is a PLUS + so ten plus one = 11. If it is a "V" which means 5 the "I" before the "V" or 5, is a minus. So, the number is 4. If it is after the "V" then, that is a plus and means 6.

I’m interested about the vault that you found at the end of that little path. The one that had the hole with the spiders! Why would the vault have an iron door inside and be bricked or sealed again on the outside as well?! There must be a story there. Also do you know the actual true lines of the Cemetery. They use to bury those that had “fallen from grace” or “not part of the Catholic Faith, were buried outside the lines of the consecrated ground! That one crypt/vault seemed tucked away and apart! Wonder what stories are connected with this beautiful Cemetery! Great exploration of this amazing bplaces

Amazing cemetery! My family came to America from Ireland many years ago, Casey and Peterson. I saw looked up their names on a Staton island registry. According to my great grandmother she was told they gave out peanut butter sandwiches when they landed, and her father was starving when they arrived, he was just a child, some of them passed away before arriving. He told her it was the most delicious food he ever had. He ate peanut butter sandwiches often until he died. Wish I could have met him❤

Many of my ancestors were from Ireland (2 young men - my g.g.g.g grandfathers - were brought out here to Australia as convicts I discovered in my research) and I have records of births and deaths of quite a few of the generations before them in the Homeland. I'll have go back and watch more of your videos to see if you may have shown the burial sites of my ancestors or members of my family tree. @@GraveVisitations you and serenity sue show me these beautiful places of Ireland. My great grandfather Hayes came from Dublin and spoke of the beauty of his home of his home land. He was first generation American. He joined the Army here in America at 15. Fought in the Spanish American War, WWI and WWII, he was a force to be reckoned with. He was an amazing man. My Dad's family the Quigleys come from Galway. That's what I've been told. They went to Lincolnshire England and mined and then to America to mine again. My father as a young boy worked in the coal mines later becoming a police officer, as well as his dad for a while who then joined the military and was in WWII, the Korean war and then became a postal worker, and his great grandad fought in WWI and his great great granddad. They were maybe 5th generation Americans. I too joined the Army. I'm sure I have ancestors in those graveyards.

I wonder why they don’t use weed killer on the vines to slow them down from overtaking everything. The vine actually takes every bit of the writing away or causes the headstones to fall. The memory, the writing of these people are loss. Why not have once a year a cemetery cleaning. A person is signed to clean one head stone or one grave. Bring their garden tools, vinegar and water, brushes. If people don’t have them maybe they local hardware stores could donate some. A local deli, pastry shop could donate after the morning clean a snack for the volunteers. Parents with children, junior high, high school age children, local churches. They might not get a lot done but it would be a great start and next spring do it again. Wouldn’t that be wonderful!

Very little is done to these abandoned graveyards anymore. I hope we won't be forgotten like this

@@GraveVisitations our Catholic graveyards keep them clean. One Catholic graveyard they are starting a all natural burial. No embalming, a burial wrap or a box that , disintegrates. Only a little metal plaque with name dates on a pick. It’s supposed to be the natural way to be buried. No embalming is to keep the fluids from seeping into the ground, natural decaying. Haven’t been by it in a while so don’t know how fast the idea is taking off.
