My mum used to work for an ancient old couple when I was a nipper, about 45 years ago. They were about 90 years old then and they were actual missionaries in Samoa. They once did a Samoan food night in Bradford in West Yorkshire, probably in about 1975, and all I can remember is thinking taro tasted like wrong potatoes. Where they got taro from in those days is anybody’s guess. I remember going to their huge house to the south of Bradford and feeling like it was another planet. They were almost Victorians- stuffed bear on the staircase, stuffed anaconda on the landing, Victorian board games, ivory toys and the whole house smelt damp and self-righteous

It is wonderful to see all these beautiful restaurants with their unique dishes from around the world opening in Australia/ we have come along way since the old days in the suburbs and I'm talking about before we even heard about Mcdonalds, when you only had the local pub, the corner takeaway shop run be those beautiful greek families,,and one Chinese restaurant which was packed every Friday and Saturday night.

Polynesians know how to slow cook meat. You haven't had pork until you've had it slow cooked underground for 8-12 hours. They work some magic with fish over charcoals too! Great find Greg!

Definietely had to watch the two ads at the start being about a 50+ lifestyle retirement village and then a portable air-conditioner with essential oil delivery capability - which I'm sure both will come in handy... Good work there GregO on something a bit different and teah, that creamy BBQ chicken sparked my interest there also... Marinated lamb ribs are something I haven't come across much before and Hawaiian food in general is pretty sparse... These guys get some pretty good reviews online so I'll pop on in next time in Upper Coomera! Cheers Gibbo
