Great tut!!! Such a nitpick but having converted to ONLY using shape layers I gotta spread the Good News hahah I got in the habit of substituting shape layers for everything from solids/nulls/adjustment layers because at the end of the day they are all solids & just stack higher & higher bloating your project folder. The scale control you seek when just using shapes is in the “size” if you added a rectangle (I usually double click the rect icon & if I need to tweak it typing “ze” in the comp search bar isn’t much slower than hitting S for scale) You also get all the benefits of shape layers like adding a procedural gradient fill if you needed a vignette or wanted to fake a linear wipe etc etc. Jake In Motion also just made a free extension that automates the constant making new shape layers/converting to nulls etc. longggg comment but hope it’s useful to someone!

Ha! Yeah I’ve been using shapes more and more. I tend to stick to my old tricks though. 😜 I’ll take it upon myself to force myself to use shapes more. Plus it’s mostly because I don’t do a lot of animation that requires shapes to be honest. Great comment man! Thanks for contributing! We appreciate it!

In case anyone else as dumb as me is going through this tutorial: delete the quotation marks from the expressions if you're copying them from his Google Sheet. They don't show up in the sheet but they'll show up when you paste them into AE.
