I love how every time I point out how the Gunlance sucks, fanboys insult me. Yet here we have the guy whose name is most synonymous with Gunlance, Mr. "Shields up", "BOOM", "Explosions!", etc. He's tackling the hardest boss in the game with a fine-tuned build and strategy that involves virtually NO USE of the shield or shells! It would be hard to imagine more obvious design problems! Little wonder he didn't play GL against Fatalis before. Anyway, great job Ruri. I'm glad your perserverance and skill has been rewarded with victory, recognition, and a much needed GL overhaul in MHWilds.

I made it a point to beat Fatalis solo and without using its gear when I first beat it. I thought it would be a perfect way to wrap up World and Iceborne and is still the only video I've got uploaded to KZbin. It went down with roughly 20 seconds left on the timer.

great work Ruri. recently did my own gunlance solo run and took on Fatalis as soon as he was available, with 4 piece raging brachy at mr 50 or so, and made it with only a minute left. Not sure if I missed it but I didnt see your build shown anywhere, I was curious what you picked to fight him with outside of the obvious Alatreon gunlance (which was also my choice lol)

With or without the fatty gear does not change it much in my opinion, hell I had more trouble with the fatty gear thanks to the fire weakness, wasted most of my slots to try to mitigate the damage from fire attacks, eventually just learned to not get hit at all lol

It’s just negative 20 and just by eating for element res you go down to negative 5 also elemental hard decorations gives 3 lvs for just one lv 4 which the fatlais gear has a lot of. I think it crazy to say you were having more trouble with the fatalis gear due to the fire weakness

Fatalis gear makes a massive difference because of the damage. After this hunt I grabbed Fatalis and instantly nailed a 17min hunt. More damage means more flinches and faster breaks, MASSIVE difference.

Better positioning could have prevented those deaths, but there is definitely a certain degree of RNG to this fight.

Fatalis is not designed to be fair in most of the cases. He is a great fight but there are some moments in the fight that can easily take you out in that fashion if you get unlucky or hit. Long animations and if you fall too much behind he is going to just nuke you into oblivion. These can all be avoided but sometimes he is just like that.

There are some pros that will make it look like they can't get hit. But the average mortal will always die a stupid way. Something always go wrong or the monster ai breaks and start spamming all the attacks you don't want him to do. But is part of the fun when you're playing with friends you need to heal and the monster just focuses in you is some of the funniest moments for the team

​@@udayveersingh7495 i mean fatalis isn't that bad; the times you're getting hit is because of a mistake you made i.e. bad positioning, iframing, etc. The rest of the game is generally more easy (though i wish some fights were more challenging like AT velk is tbh).

For how often you're able to even hit the monster, those damage numbers have got to be the saddest thing I've ever seen in MH. Hopefully GL fares better in Wilds. Expertly played!

Fatalis gunlance has like 30% more physical damage than what he's using tho 😂

Gunlance has more openings/punish that are safe compared to most weapons, and it surprisingly destroys Fatalis on the first phase for the simple reason that it is one of the few weapons that can punish every single attack (Execpt one) when Fatalis is on all fours, safely, without risks, and while doing huge damage.
