Those mics add some cool color. I've only seen one other review of them. I think my first attempt would be a guitar cab because that's my main instrument, but I think it'd be really cool to pull it back a few feet from the drum kit and add grit to the entire kit. I always see people adding grit to drum tracks, with good placement of that dirt mic, that could save some time in the mix, and probably sound much cooler than a plugin. I'm a fan of the subkick thing and that one looks really cool.
@FOHFILMS4 жыл бұрын
The trash of that mic combined with the uniqueness of that delay make such a refreshingly different sound and I freaking love it. Sub kick works wonders too, massive fan of them for drum tracking!

The dirt mic is a great idea to capture vocal, drums, bass, guit, effects going in! Yes a plug-in can do this, but I like the simplicity of tracking the exact vibe you’re going for! We have enough plug-in decisions to make as it is!
@AndrewMasters4 жыл бұрын
And the commitment!

Yes, the plug and play vibe is exactly what I was going for, tracking with the effect is so much better than adding it later. Singing with DirtMic is a lot of fun, even for someone like me that cant sing at all :)

Awesome video Andrew! As you know, using distortion for character and energy is a huge part the recording process. That’s why people love smashing tape, Distressors, 1176s, 33609, LA3A etc. Distortion pedals also do this really well as well as amp sims etc. Distortion is also a critical part of getting great bass sounds. Stoked to try this on a bass amp and for vocals. 🤘🏽😁
