I had a penpal relationship with Brad that started in 1978, when I was 16 years old. It continued until he died, and evolved into s friendship. He really enriched my life. May his memory be eternal. Richard Drumdoc Zraick

I remember standing in line to enter the Scope arena in Norfolk Va to see Boston on the Third stage tour. We were all waiting to get in and they made an announcement that the show was cancelled( power outage) but fortunately they played the next night( a day off for them) anyway they put on a great concert. RIP Brad

Did some contract work for Boston in the 90s. Brad has always been my favorite vocalist, and seeing some shows up close was amazing. Just a soulful, superhuman vocalist. Dearly missed.

This is a really great episode and you dealt with his death with great sensitivity. We can never know why anyone chooses to end their life and the most we can do is acknowledge how tragic it is for close family members, and in this case, millions of fans. Thank you for celebrating all that was great about Brad, his voice, and the high regard in which he held his friends.

Thank you so much for honouring the memory of Brad. When Boston toured the UK in 1979 I made sure I was at one of the concerts. The band and Brad were awesome, and the show was so great that it felt like it was over in five minutes. I'll never forget that show, I still have the ticket stub and tour programme somewhere in the loft. Oh someone on your live stream commented that, 'Hitch a Ride' was their current favourite, it's mine too, that lead guitar ending is often my 'ear worm' it's just so brilliant. Thanks again guys.

I saw Boston in 86 and met Brad on the Walk On tour. Got some back stage passes, took pics, talked to all of them. it was amazing. I was surprised how down to earth he was, easy to talk to. The best memories was as a kid in 1976, Foreplay/Long Time and More Than a Feeling were all over the radio and I had a radio on my bike, those songs still remind me of better days riding around hearing that music hanging with friends. Brad was truly gifted and impacted so many with his talents.

Brad was an amazing ranged singer. He was the sound of Boston. Without him, they don’t sound anything like they once did. It’s extremely sad that Brad couldn’t deal with his own personal depression. He was an extremely gifted vocalist, guitarist, and keyboard player. No one could ever take his place musically. He’s sorely missed….

Great tribute. Thank you for doing this. My all time favorite album ever is the first Boston record. In my mind it is the perfect pop rock album and Brad's vocals are arguably the biggest part of that. What a shame that Brad's life ended so early and so tragically. Boston's early material will live on forever and always remind me of my high school years when the first two records were released.

His voice was a date stamp to our youth, growing up in the 70's and 80's. In the top 5 voices of all time. Phenom talent. Still can't believe he passed so young😢

As a Kansas fan first and foremost, I'm required to say Steve Walsh is the best singer...but, sometimes, Brad Delp wins that honor. RIP

I agree, no one has the range of Steve Walsh, and the talent in this group from the middle of nowhere was stunning. But Brad Delp on “Long Time” was a jaw dropping performance. I still love Kansas with Steve Walsh. No one else filled the void.

If you ever owned an original pressing of Don't Look Back then you know that the album sleeve contained not only the lyrics but The blueprints of the guitar spaceship. Another tidbit that I'm convinced I'm the only one who knows is if you look at the dome city with a magnifying glass There is a marquis on top of a building that says "Cindy". I believe that is Tom Scholz' first wife, but I could be wrong. I am so glad you did this today!

Boston's debut album came out my junior year of high school. I believe it was the highest selling debut album in history at that time. Every song on that album is fantastic. Probably played it 100+ times. They should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for all their work but at the very least for the cultural significance of that 1st album. I wish the band had not so much turmoil and legal trouble. It would been great we could have gotten a new record every year or two for the first 10 years. All of the band members were great musicians. Brad Delp's voice was amazing.

Delp's voice was just out of this world. I doubt he would have stayed with Boston very long though, it seems lots of musicians had trouble getting along with Sholtz.

Hey John, please get Fran Cosmo on your show. He is a great singer and person. He's from my hometown Utica NY. I read Brad was respectful toward Fran when they shared vocal duties. Tough to fill Brad's shoes but Fran did wonderful. I also read Brad wanted Fran to tour with Boston right before he passed. Thanks for a great show with everyone's thoughts on Brad. RIP Brad 🙏 🎵 🎤

Brad did a lot of side projects and sang backup vocals and harmonies on other people's music like his friends band Orpheus, the Orpheus again album that was released in 2010 but recorded years before and if you listen to the song can't find the time you can clearly hear Brad's golden voice singing backup vocals and harmonies, his voice made an already beautiful song sound even sweeter also his Beatles cover band called Beatle Juice listen to him singing golden slumbers and you'd think it was Paul McCartney singing look up Brad Delp singing any Beatles song you like and chances are there's a video of it also he did a rendition of the great pretender which must've been hard for him know that he was pretending that he was doing well when he wasn't and kept it a secret from everyone

Can’t believe Drummer Jim included Freddie Mercury and Stephen Tyler in the same sentence lol… Mercury had just as much awesome range and creativity then then Brad or anybody else… Just saying… I do have a question for hard-core Boston fans out there? I always thought that Jim actually played drums on the album because he started with Boston earlier, I always got the impression and have heard also that essentially Sis, Fran, etc.. we’re literally just a touring band… It’s basically Jim, Tom Shultz and Brad Delp in the studio that created Boston… If anybody can shed more wisdom on that, let me know. I only say this because I saw Boston live and Syd‘s Drum parts did not seem like the ones on the album at least even if you try to closely mimic them… I just wonder if Jim actually did all the drumming but under some kind of contract they buried that fact…

20:48 That is most likely the reason. Tom dragged Fran and his Son through court for years from 2004-2008 that Fran most likely wants nothing to do with the Boston brand. I hate to say I lost a lot of respect for Tom, I admired him for his indie DIY attitude but he does not treat people right, especially his band.
