Can You hear the difference between guitar picks? What pick is best for you?

I can't hear. Hands rules. Nylon 0.88 too soft.

Heavy distortion and drumming makes it not easy to hear the difference between guitar picks.

Personally I have been using the Ultex 1.14 picks. You really have to try them to know for sure. This is about as good as a pick comparison can get. If you're complaining about distortion, then this video isn't aimed at you. And he played without drums for the majority of the video.

I've been using Tortex .60 orange regulars for years, now with EBs 9-46 Hybrid slinky cobalts. I have been experimenting with Graphtech .68 Tusq black. So many choices, I think it boils down to what you get used to. I've never tried the heavy gauge strings before... Excellent video and playing. I'm inspired!

Overall there is not much difference but I can clearly hear the tone softening and losing aggression with the thicker and smoother picks I think it sounded best with the ultex flow 88 and Tortex flow 88 and 73 the attack sound more percussive and precise

I'm in Ukraine. Now we are under attack from russia non-stop, so there is no possibility to do it. Some day after it all I'll do a new comparison.

@@lanzugsound that's awful and I really wish you and your country to withstand and get a victory. Being Russian myself I feel terrible for what Russia brought to you. I just want to mention that there is a significant number of people here who sincerely hate war and Putin in particular, but right now there's literally nothing we can do against a murderous dictator. Again, good luck and I hope Ukraine wins and restores all you territories back!
@lanzugsound2 жыл бұрын
@@blackowlhowl Thanks for your support. We know that not all whole russia wants war with Ukraine. We know about the situation in your country. That is why there were "maidans" in our country. That was the moment when we stood against that type of dictatorship. After the war, you should choose new people for the government.

I think its all about how you feel the pick.If its not the right pick for you , you can t play.Sound can be modulate from amps , eq or processors.Must be love between your pick and technique.

As a rule of thumb: For playing leads and picked rhythms, use a rigid pick 1.0 mm or above because it gives you better control than a soft pick. For strumming, especially on acoustics, a softer pick can be helpful for the percussive effect. Material depends on your personal preferences, like Tortex feels "dryer" than for example Delrin. Only testing for yourself will give you an answer there. Personally I prefer Dunlop Tortex, 1.0 or 1.14 for the electric and Dunlop Tortex .60 for the acoustic.

the more distortion, the more you hear the amp creating overtones and compression and the less you hear what is in front of the amp.

@@lanzugsound its great! The fact that it has 4 pair of strings needs to use picks with consistency. I use 0.73 ultex and its very nice cause the sound comes crispy and warm.
