My favorite video game (best of all time), design sketches, digital sculpting, 3d printing, wood working, terrain building, gadgets like fog, electric circuits, led's and soldering, sculpting with milliput, painting miniatures, trees from scratch, airbrushing, static grass and flocks, epoxy resin and water effects, and everything is combined into one video with editing skills like a professional. I think you knocked it out of the park, like 10/10 and your best video so far. (It doesn't seem like there exists a craftsmanship you aren't able to pull of too, Impressive!) Awesome. I love how you combine technical elements in your dioramas. Most traditional builders would probably paint the light effects instead of using LEDs. For someone who owns so many technical and woodworking tools it was quite surprising that you lack a hot wire cutter. If I am allowed to critique you I would suggest you improve the stones and ground texture in your next projects. Personally I am a fan of combining foam and charcoal/bark for detailed rocks, but I am sure you can work out your preferred method by learning from the great terrain building channels you linked. Another point is the uniform gras length/colour, although without electrostatic grass it is hard to create grass tufts and patches. For more colour variety of the gras and leaves an cheap airbrush comes in handy to mist the finished tree crowns to add some colour variance or smooth in the differences if you used multicoloured leaves. I will await your next great project!
@Geordiecrafts2 жыл бұрын
haha I'm nowhere near good enough at painting to tackle light effects with paint. I only got into this hobby 2 years ago so, although my skills are improving over time, I certainly still have a long way to go! And because I'm learning SO many skills all at once, I can only give each one so much attention (this is great for me though, it prevents me from getting burnt out on learning one skill). As for the hot wire cutter, I only started working with foam a couple months ago and I can never seem to justify buying one. I always have other, more crucial, crafting supplies and tools to buy within my budget. The hot wire cutter seems to be more a convenience thing than anything else. I can still cut foam without it (although my life would be a lot easier with one :p) I've never seen anyone use that foam/charcoal/bark method, I would love to learn more about it! I've stuck with clay and modeling compound thus far because I really like using the leopard spot technique for painting rocks and cliffs. It requires very little skill and yields pretty good results. But I'm always open to learning new techniques! Do you have a good video recommendation for it? In the case of the grass, I actually have a static grass applicator and 11 different lengths and colors of grass. In this case it was a creative decision to go for a mossy, earthy detritus look. I tried putting some of my gamers grass tufts in here but they just didn't suit the look of a debris-filled, mossy, forest floor I was going for. Maybe I just need to improve my application to get better results. That's a great idea about adding some highlights and variation to the trees with the airbrush, I think that would add a great level of additional detail!
@owliciousmuffin29062 жыл бұрын
@@Geordiecrafts Here is the tutorial about bark rocks from the terrain tutor: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYDcZqynmNmtsKM I think he never did one on coal, but it is the same idea instead of bark you use coal pieces with good looking texture. Depending on your location charcoal might be far easier to get than something liek cork bark.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHu2fWOKpKaGpdU this viedo shows a few dioramas created by Reinhard Fritschka with foam topped of with coal. www.kirnbachtaeler.de/modell/sinsheim/2016/10kf.html here is a site that has at least one picture of a build in progress.
