This is really awesome, thank you for the great templates. Since its made a bit big to use as a mask do you think the templates could work if printed 5 -10% smaller for a smaller head? Thank you.
@EpicCardboardProps3 жыл бұрын
No problems Stephanie D, to do so you have to do what I explain in the text folder named "READ IT" that you downloaded with the templates. Basically you just have to divide the circumference of your head (above the eyes) by mine which is 23 inches, that's gonna give you a decimal number like 0,86 for instance, and that is the percentage you have to print the templates out from your computer to make it a perfect fit for your head, in this case you would have to print them out at 86% of the original size 😉

@EpicCardboardProps4 жыл бұрын
@@eduardonu3433 it depends a little bit on the glue you're using and the type of pattern but it probably won't work good as usually glue doesn't stick to the pattern. You could so take this to the next level by applying bondo to the whole helmet, sand, smooth, prime and paint.
@EpicCardboardProps3 жыл бұрын
Of course! The same way I could have made the visor out of plastic to improve the vision.... But it wouldn't be aligned with the topic of this channel! The challenge here is making it using cardboard and paper... and to be honest trying to make a perfect replica using bondo and paint is a little bit a nonsense with cardboard as it would be 3 time faster to simply work with another material like foam, plastic or even wood, and for a way better end result too... 😉

question what would you say is the best method to smooth the build out and paint it ?
@EpicCardboardProps4 жыл бұрын
Well cardboard is not a good material when it comes to that part unfortunately... so you have to be aware that painting it is gonna make all the imperfections much more visible, and it may end up to look a little bit like a craft made by a young child lol to a certain extent... (That's the reason why I don't paint them), that being said I'm quite demanding with my props, maybe too much lol. But if you want to paint it I recommend you to use a primer first and then apply several thin layers of paint in order not to soak the cardboard. Acrylic paint might be a good one to use for that 😉

My son and I are going to try this as lockdown challenge! Could anyone suggest what paint we would use if we wanted to make the helmet silver?
@EpicCardboardProps4 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it Hannah! Well cardboard is not a good material when it comes to that part unfortunately... so you have to be aware that painting it is gonna make all the imperfections much more visible, and it may end up to look a little bit like a craft made by a young child, to a certain extent... but if you're gonna make it with you're going to make it with your son maybe it doesn't matter I guess 🙂 But if you want to paint it I recommend you to use a primer first and then apply several thin layers of paint in order not to soak the cardboard. Acrylic paint might be a good one to use for that 😉

@@EpicCardboardProps thank you for much for taking the time to reply! Thank you for your suggestions - my son won't mind it looking more like it was made by a young child as he is a young child so no problems there! Looking forward to giving it a go!

what material can we use to see inside of the helmet instead of black painted cardboard ?
@EpicCardboardProps4 жыл бұрын
Well no needs for that you can see perfectly well through it if you make enough holes as I show in this tutorial.
