I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. kzbin.infoUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.

While getting edges aligned, use toothpicks. Stick them into the edges and they will bridge the gap between spaces like the upper and lower eye gap, keeping it lined up so you can heat it to bend the foam into place.

the Zhell eventually managed to drive the Taung from Coruscant, and the defeated Taung fled to the planet Roon, located in the Outer Rim. There they remained for millennia, until legendary Mandalore the First led the Taung to conquer a new world which they named Mandalore in honor of their leader, and the Taung subsequently recast themselves as the Mandalorians or Mando'ade-"Sons and Daughters of Mandalore." Not tryna sound like a geek but yeah, that's the first sign of mandalorians

This is so, so, sooo important - it's also good to remember to take breaks when you work with anything sharp. If you're spending several hours on something, after a certain point it doesn't matter how careful you thing you're being - if your hand goes "lol nope" you're gonna get hurt. If you're lucky and ya counter the moment quick enough, it'll be nothing or minor enough to be nothing. If not, who knows. Not a great chance to take.

*Sabine Wren Helmet Log* (WIP) *Dec/25ish/22* Printed and cut pattern _@100%_ . traced and cut EVA foam ( 8mm). (NOTE) I reshaped the whole cheek cutouts and eye shapes by retracing the pattern pieces. *Dec/29/22* Main pieces glued together(contact cement). _Full crown, 2 cheek panels, full back of head_ (NOTE) The whole thing looked extremely oversized when I held together the pieces. (looked like something out of Spaceballs😂) So I cut a 1-inch strip from the top of the crown stretching from back to front. this brought the helmet closer to my ears, overall, giving a narrower appearance from the front (similar to what's seen in Rebels) . *Dec/30/22* All main pieces are glued together. Took the Dremel to sharp edges to soften them. *Jan/6/23* Cut and smoothed(Dremel) ear and range finder pieces *Jan/7/23* Found out I could make (those weird pointy) seams almost perfectly smooth by going over them with the Dremel 👍 *Jan/18/23* Spackled and sanded all exterior seams. all is a go for the first resin coat (NOTE)I chose resin (got some for Christmas! Thanks Mom and Dad!) because I couldn't get over the immaculate finish it gave that Din Djarin helmet, and that sound!😙👌 *Jan/22/23* Both coats of resin were successfully applied! I sanded down the drips. I'm now waiting on my magnets and PVC sheet (Range Finder Pieces), they're estimated to arrive on the 31st😑. (NOTE) So to look at it more positively, I have over a week to sand the helmet to perfection, and I can look at what it might take to make Sabine's full suit of armor, weapons, and base layer. *Jan/30/23* The magnets, PVC sheet, and vizor arrived! *Feb/4/23* Range Finder has been cut, sanded, and sealed! Accidentally mixed extra resin when sealing the Range Finder and added an additional impromptu coat to the helmet😅 That meant more sanding. (NOTE) I believe that makes 3 coats of resin *Feb/11/23* Next I need spray primer, and paint, both of which I can get at Michael's Crafts for a reasonable price. *Feb/17/23* Applied Spray Primer. I went pretty heavy with it (NOT GOOD) , I got quite a few drips, so I sanded those as best I could by hand. I believe I did maybe 3-4 coats of primer in all. I recommend following instructions and applying many light coats! *Feb/19/23* Started painting! I put down coats of the base colors (Grey, purple, and orange). I'm using acrylic craft paints I bought from Michael's Crafts. (NOTE) I hand-mixed as few of the colors as possible, this made it easier for touch-ups. I kept hand-mixed colors in some old air-tight jars for touch-ups later. *Mar/31/23* Painting is almost done! I have a few small details and weathering left! (NOTE) I took breaks often, especially when painting. there's no reason for the helmet to take more than a couple months at most, I just had no deadlines and wanted to take my time. *Hope this can help anyone who's looking. Log dates are not all accurate. This is my first helmet and, until this point, I have worked very little with foam. I'll try to add up the total supply cost at the end. I'm going to keep working!* * Don't forget respiratory protection, and may the force be with you*

One way to avoid drips in the epoxy is to always start at the top of the piece and pull down. This includes after applying to horizontal parts. Pull the epoxy down. That way, if you do have "drips", they will all be down at the bottom, and not in and around details.

Flexbond can be watered down to prevent getting brush strokes to begin with. Also foam brushes counterintuitively make it harder to prevent getting more strokes to begin with. You want a really soft paintbrush or even a makeup brush. This is always giving me a smooth surface. While I haven't tried it you can supposedly wet sand it too.
