CHEESE- BEST WAY- Shred it- freeze dry. To Reconstitute- put in bag or Tupperware 1-2 Tablespoons of water- Shake it , then let it sit in fridge for 1-2 hours! It will be like original texture! Thrive Life foods sells freeze dried cheese- I’ve used it for several (5) years! Trust me- you Don’t Need Powdered Cheese!!!! My husband & 3 adult kids could not tell the difference. JUST TRY IT! ✌🏻

Wrap the bread in a steaming moist towel and let it slowly absorb the water (steaming by itself will soften the bread but it will get hard again). Keep an eye on it so it doesn't get soggy. and the cheese does work if its shredded and has more surface area. i saw it on some bbq channel

I love watching you guys! So I freeze dried some banana bread and have been having a heck of a time reconstituting it. So I used your idea and I did the egg and milk which wasn't too bad but I tasted more eggs then banana bread. So I did just milk and I didn't leave it in very long it was still firm and the milk just kind of steamed it in the pan! It was like eating warm banana bread! I tried it with water the same way I did milk and it was a little soggy. I had a fellow harvest right owner tell me cheese take really hot water to reconstitute. So she only does shredded cheese and uses it in soups and stuff she's cooking. Try bite size charleston chews! They don't look the best but boy are they good! My kids told me to fill the whole freeze drier with them next time!

The mayonnaise doesn't work because of two reasons one the egg yolk in the egg changes its molecular structure when it is frozen in a manner similar to cooking and two the oil in the mayonnaise resist dehydrating and rehydrating. freeze dried mayonnaise is a mess however mayonnaise is virtually impossible to go bad anyway. you can leave that stuff out at room temperature for a decade as long as it stays unopened

Bryan, Monte Cristo sandwiches came to mind with the french toast style egg washed bread, just add your meat and cheese, spread some strawberry or blackberry jam and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Also when my french baguettes dry out I simply drench your rock-hard baguette in cold water then tightly wrap it in aluminum foil. Next, place the wrapped baguette in the oven (not preheated), then set the temperature to 300F and let is heat for 12 to 15 minutes. For sliced bread maybe spray with a water misting bottle since sandwich bread is softer, then wrap in foil and heat in the oven like the baguette.💡

Steam the cheese in a pressure cooker raised off the bottom. Spritz the bread lightly with a clean spray bottle set on mist and put them in a sealed food container to slowly absorb the moisture. Nice vid! Very interesting and fun. I saw a vid of a guy that made a burger out of freeze dried ingredents. He did freeze dry the cheese, he used shredded chedder and hot water to rehydrate and it worked great! He said he tried to freeze dry the bun and then rehydrate using steam but it didn't work out, it wouldn't stay soft so he used a fresh bun, but everything else was freeze dried and then rehydrated and he said it was great.

I've read that you wrap the bread with a damp paper towel and put it in a plastic bag. Then place it in the fridge overnight. THAT SAID, I would think for long term storage you would just preserve the ingredients or possibly the dough and make the bread when you need some. It would be interesting to find out if you can freeze dry yeast.

Hey, I think I helped contribute to this idea. WOOT. An idea about the cheese...freeze dry it, then grind it up and add just a tiny bit of water to make a spread or paste. No, it's not cheese slices, but wouldn't a cheese spread work as well? As for the bread, I wonder if putting a couple slices in a zip seal vacuum bag with a little warm water and letting it sit would work? No clue, but it sounds like it could work. Very cool video, happy for the win! :)
@EpicenterBryan7 жыл бұрын
Good ideas. We will give it a try. Some deleted footage was of Jenny retrieving the cheese from the trash and putting it in a heated pan just to see what happened. It turned back into gooey cheese! We will also mess with the bread idea another day.

I wonder if bread will ever come out "bread" like? I honestly have no clue. Did you ever try it plain? I wondered if it would be like a cracker or crispbread or if it would just turn to crumbs? Hey, home made bread crumbs! Good to hear the cheese work at least when heated. Maybe a lower fat cheese would work better in slices? I know it's got to work some how as there are several companies selling highly reviewed freeze dried shredded cheese, so there's got to be a trick to it. Any way, enough rambling, Good luck!

FD Cheese works better if you just "spritz" rather than submerge it. Often there is enough moisture from the other foods in a dish it will rehydrate the cheese. But slices, that's a whole new ball game. Probably spritzing/steaming might be the better solution. One interesting side thing here is that you can FD bread (cut into cubes" and seasoned for croutons. So bonus.

As I love the idea of the Monte Cristo how about going ahead and dipping the bread in the milk and egg mixture and then freeze drying. Should be able to just use some water to get it back to the point where you throw it in the pan to fry. As to the cheese just leave it as is and sell it as a snack. Other people are doing that so might as well get in on that market. From what I've been able to gather jam and jelly doesn't freeze dry well which is sad. Would be great to have a bag with everything in it needed for a Monte Cristo where you just add water to each as needed.

slice or cube any good cheese and put it in a tray UNCOVERED, in the fridge for a week or more. The cheese will slowly dehydrate Stir gently to wet all particles of cheese. Let stand 5 minutes, then stir gently. If more water is needed, sprinkle 1/2 to 1 cup water over cheese. Chill rehydrated cheese thoroughly before serving (3 to 4 hours) I found this online.
