Two of our five kids will be home for Christmas. Small but cozy. Only put up a tree this year. My wife's best friend passed from Cancer so we have been helping her husband and daughter with reorganizing the house. Boy did she have a lot of nick naks, quilting machines and quilting material. With all the added stuff going on we are making this a simple Christmas. Loved the video and Merry Christmas to your family.

Oh my gosh, my kids were homeschooled and we wore out probably three sets of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books!! There is nothing like that historic fiction and reading out loud as a family. I know what that feels like and I passed that on with my first grandson who is now 17 and we spun through those again so many good memories of sitting and reading and eating popcorn, drinking tea. One thing we do on Christmas Eve as a family- we watch the Waltons Homecoming-* it’s the very first movie that the series would spin off of. The parents were replaced after the Christmas Eve show and I think the grandfather was too-but it doesn’t matter. We watch that original one every year;and now our youngest daughter, who is 26 carries it on at her house and has us all over to watch it.❤ Your daughter is beautiful and I’m sure you cried for days after the wedding❤ Thank you for sharing your video. My husband always kept a “ditty bag”. We lived on a barrier island with no bridges, stores, mail etc. it always came with us. It came in handy when he needed to be life flighted / evacuated by boat and NPS a few times in later years. It had boat keys, 4 wheeler and keys to vehicles on mainland etc . Had things to float if you dropped in water. In later years, he’d put it in his tiny satchel (he use to be a lawyer) and said grab it all… you never knew if a fire, a storm, medical emergency etc. Just a suggestion. You always bring back good memories for me. Thank you for sharing your life.

I LOVE when you guys share those annoying details - like complex logistics snarled by forgetfulness! Last summer I sat bolt upright in my rooftop tent having realized that I didn’t have my keys. I was at a camp in Montana over 1,000 miles from home. After hiking to the only spot with a cell signal and waking my son and figuring out the expensive details of how he could express ship the spare set somewhere that I could retrieve them - I retraced my steps and found them in my truck. I had set some gear on top of them so that they were hard to see. It’s so often the little things!

One of the biggest traditions is Christmas Brunch Soufflé. My grandmother’s recipe. My mother made it until my father passed away right before Christmas in 1989. She just couldn’t do it , so I’ve been making it since then. It’s gone from 1 pan to 3. The family has definitely grown

Thank you for having Christmas at home again, it’s a wonderful dream to be with as much family as possible. My dream has been to travel with my wife but unfortunately I’m not well so we stick close to home. We have been thinking very long and hard but the Canadian doctors just don’t know what’s happening except I’m getting worse. We are planning on going to the Mayo Clinic soon. So I’d rather be broke and healthy than have some money I won’t be able to use. I sure hope I’m not coming across as selfish that’s not what I was planning to do. All Canadians and people everywhere don’t squander your life away take the time to do as much as you can when you can. I’m hoping that you all had a blessed Christmas!

When I was young, my parents were the host on the 25th. I took on that tradition (few exceptions mainly due to deployment). That’s the tradition but now, with no kids under 18 and at the start of their adult life, the party is getting bigger.

75YO from TEXAS-USA. Ahhhh Bubble lights - remembering when I was maybe 6YO when my mother purchased some and we had them on our live tree. Tjhey were a pain to get to stand straight so they would bubble, but once done - I would watch for hours. Real nice to see a family enjoying the good ole simple things - memories that will warm the heart for years to come. Mostly for the younger ones. Even the guys will remember a special time.

Beautiful Christmas 🎄! Those crystal angels are the same ones we have. They were a present from my mom. I will always have them and in remembrance of her. For me it’s all about the food and family. I cook up a storm for a couple of days and depending on the weather as to which way I go. This year because it was hot it was all salads and bbq meat. But I go all out on the desserts. We invited our Korean neighbours over for dessert to show them an Aussie Christmas.

❤ The Christmasc I remember the most was the last one spent with my late husband who past with cancer. We had a nine foot tree in the front home window . I decorated the house family was coming I wanted it special for him and it was the best. I remember it like it was yesterday. I lost him the following year.

Have you looked at a Scratcher boat(also called Picker boats)? They use them on frozen lakes and the Mississippi River here in Minnesota. But they’re mainly used for thin ice. Not open water. Cheaper than an airboat though. Just a thought.
