LOL... the old reverse psychology trick. My channel currently has zero content and one subscriber. I've got the whole "stuck figuring out my studio setup" problem. I've been writing scripts and adding posts to my blog, but every time I set the camera up, I just shake my head at the result and end up deleting it in disgust. Oh well... back to trying more things to get a look I'm happy with :).

You executed the content of this video like a boss. The knowledge is great, but the execution of the delivery of the knowledge is A+. You carefully emphasize key terms while displaying abundantly clear visual examples for an audiovisual slap in the face of easy-to-understand knowledge. I'm not even a video person, this just happened to be recommended during my lunch and I clicked on it, watched the whole thing, liked and subscribed.

Watched this one upside down. We followed your last instructions to a "tee." clicked the thumbs down and then clicked that funny foreign word in the big box next to the upside down bell thingy. Since we kinda recognized the bell icon, we decided to click on that to notify you that we followed your instructions. Thank you for the clarity. The totally rigged setup was the best--for obvious reasons. The second best was actually the last option you showed us with the budget setup. Just knock the side light down another 1.5 to 2 stops and it'll make the subject pop off the screen. We tell people all the time that budget lighting is not just about budgeting $ is about budgeting what is important in the scene.... Since it's just a boring wall, better lighting on the subject is the wiser use of the cheap lights--unless the back wall/location is important to the interview. But there again, our musical interludes on set are usually "if I only had a brain."

Ya know I've been watching all these filmmaker youtubers for a while and thinking how awesome stage lighting can be put to use for filmmakers. Watching you gaff tape a mirror just drove that theory home. Some stage lights on a dimmer with gobos would make that boring room incredible. That being said being creative like this: two thumbs up ebert & roeper

hey buddy! if you try to use these cheap led bulbs try by removing the white covering of the bulb it can be twisted and removed in some bulbs and in others you have to cut through them, after removing the diffusion layer of the bulb, you will have a light source with straight beam of light. Try it, it works fine, attach some gel on to it and it's ready to go.

I use the construction, cheapo lights (flood lights). They cost about $6.00, the bulb is extra, of course. I produce films for the town and non-profits so there's no way I'm going to buy expensive lighting. Thank you for the placement tips. The lighting has always been an issue for me and the interviews look okay, but something is just not right. Now I know it's the lighting. : )) I liked the set up with the tape on the reflecting mirror (D). That is SO creative. I'm also going to start using back lighting. It's a miracle.
