I'm jealous of the laser cutter. That being said, I think the ornamentation on the guard is nice, but also having the laser cut pieces on the handle is a tad much for me.

Very nice! Wooden katanas are my favorite thing to make. If you plan to make a saya for it, inlay it with felt to protect your finish. I paint all of mine so it's a must for sure

I love your content and am happy to finally be able to watch it again! At 2:34 if you were to use hide glue instead it would make separation a lot easier on a longer timeframe. Often in fine wood instruments like violins they will use hide glue to attach the components in the eventuality that they need to be separated to be repaired long into the future.

I get you, but I didn't use CNC in this build, I used Laser cutter which has much smaller cut kerf and it would be much better. There are some laser cutter for hobby which are not that expensive and they could cut those flowers, dragonflies and maybe even Tsuba in many passes. Or maybe someone could cut it out for you with their machine for a fee 🤘

Love this wooden Katana. Would have like to see the Habaki, Fuchi and Kashira made to be taken apart, but the asthetic is very nice. I've been working on my own pattern for a bit. It's a nice challenge.

I could have made those parts to be able to come apart but then it would weaken the strength of the katana, i had to sacrafice some parts.
