@@kandiceashmichealson3944 You really should go to a doctor. I also had them all the time, until this year I had a tonic-clonic seizure and spent some days in the hospital because of the fall. I could have died. Now with the medication I am free of absences for all these months, and before it I had them around 3-10 times a day. The risk is something to take into consideration. Stay well!

I have had epilepsy since i was 9 and I have missed so much school because I was having seizures about 100 times a day so I wasn't getting a chance to learn but 8 years later I have done my GCSE's and I am in year 12 and I am ready to come off my medication. Time and patience is key. Don't rush something you didn't plan.

There's a difference between daydreaming and absence seizures. With absence seizures, you're not aware that you 'spaced out' but with daydreaming you're fully aware

Have you seen a doctor or been diagnosed? If not then I recommend bringing up your suspicions because before I was diagnosed I thought something was wrong with me. The myoclonic seizures scared me before I was diagnosed because I thought maybe I had something like Tourettes or some reason why my body was randomly moving. I felt reassured after the diagnosis because I realised that there was nothing actually wrong with me, my brain was just a bit different

Well, hellø there, felløw human! Exact same with me. I had one huge seizure unexpectedly on my 18th back in March (I wasn’t diagnosed before then) but since I was 12/13 I have been getting myoclonic seizures and that is the most common with me (have them every day). I have these same seizures. I was diagnosed with them back in 2018. My family and I never knew I was having seizures. I would have these episodes where I would space out and become dizzy. One day I had one of these episodes, and my mom took me to the hospital. The doctors ran tests, did bloodwork, and everything was normal. Before we left, I had another one of these episodes. They ran more tests and did an EEG. Turned out the EEG results came back I was having seizures. I take Lamotrigine now to control them

Found out that my spacing out moments were seizures when I had an episode in front of my doctor. I went there about my insomnia and headaches and left finding out I didn’t escape the epilepsy or cluster headache genes. It was only embarrassing when I had a seizure while looking in someone’s general direction and they thought I was staring at them. I still get episodes even in my twenties but it’s not as frequent.

I’m the same way as you. I have the same episodes where I space out, and feel like I’m going to get sick. I was diagnosed with seizures back in 2018. I take lamotrigine to control them. I just recently had a seizure. I was at work, and started spacing out. My manager called paramedics, and I was taken to the hospital. The thing that triggered my seizure was dehydration. This has happened to me in the past. Now I’m drinking a lot more water which will help

I too get absence seizures. Mine before were very short, but now they seem like they’re lasting longer. I recently had a seizure, and it took a little bit for me to get out of it. I no sooner found out that the reason it takes me so long to get out of it, is because of a thing called post ictal. What this is, the brain returns to normal after the seizure has occurred. I had learned that it could take minutes, hours, or even days before the brain returns to normalcy. There is confusion, and biting of the lip or tongue in this stage

THIS HAPPENS TO ME EXACTLY ALSO. I thought it was severe Dissasociative episodes for a long time!!! This is insane. I haven't been officially diagnosed but my prescriber wants to send me to a neurologist. I'm worried because I started college recently and I'm worried about these things occurring. @@hanahtherabbit14 I was looking into it more,, and I believe my case is simple partial seizures. The descriptions of it sound similar to what I’m experiencing. The symptoms are a little scary,, but it’s accurate to what I was explaining. But I don’t think I should self-diagnose myself haha. I would feel awkward bringing it up to my neurologist- you know,, because he diagnosed me and all. I don’t want to sound like I’m correcting him :(

Does it happen only normally when shifting positions/standing? And your vision seems to “cave in”? I’m not a doctor but look up Postural Hypotension. It’s simply a form of low blood sugar that can cause you to feel dizzy, lightheaded, or even faint upon standing. Look into it 🤞🏽

Thank you for posting this. I have been battling epilepsy since a car accident about 10 years ago. I am just now being treated for it and seeing positive differences in my life. I am actually making KZbin videos on the subject of my battles with TBI, epilepsy and myeloma. Mine are partial complex seizures and yes...embarrassing stuff happens. I am medicated for it and am eating ketogenically to try to control it. Absense seizures are so lame!!! This is well needed! Thanks for posting this...epilepsy sucks!

I remember having these seizures they can be very scary to stop suddenly not knowing why you keep on stopping what you were doing! I had them when I started preschool as a very young girl. Epilepsy runs in my family and one of my family members has bad epilepsy luckily I had only this type of seizure that they showed in the video or called petit mal or absence seizure. I had them a long time until like maybe 4th grade in school or so when they got cured. Most kids will outgrow this type of seizure but some still have it for a very long time luckily I outgrew mine and the medication helped get them better too. It's defiantly very embarrassing when these seizures happen! You could be hanging out with your friends like this video shows and a seizure strikes you and people look at you like what is wrong with you but overall great video and it defiantly helps spread awareness about these types of seizures!

This hurts to watch. As a kid I was finally diagnosed at 6 after I had a spell and collapsed on the kitchen floor in front of my mom. Had been having trouble in school and always felt so embarrassed to be caught when I didn't know what I'd done. Honestly though I eventually outgrew it with meds as a teen I still will catch myself drifting and wonder if I'm actually really free. People don't realize the lasting damage these things do. Being scared and confused as a child certainly has its lasting effects. My love to those of you still fighting the battle.

when I was a baby i had a febrile seizures i stopped breathing and turned blue my mom gave me mouth to mouth and by the time the EMTS arrived i stopped seizing . In pre k i would get angry and punch any thing that was in front of me that is when it was suggested that my parents should take me to a therapist. he took one look at me and said that I was having seizures he then referred me to a neurologist. At the at the age of 5 I was diagnosed with childhood absence epilepsy but have been seizure free since the age of thirteen and so was taken of meds which caused massive weight gain a hand tremor and memory loss. The point is meds are good up until a point an then it becomes a pill no pun intended. my triggers are flashing lights, specifically the transition from the out doors to inside a classroom getting too hot photo and recently sleep deprivation. my parents were told to treat me as a normal child and to see how fare I would develop and look at me now I have graduated high school with honors though I did hope for a regents diploma but after taking the algebra common core regent seven times starting out with a 40 and ending up with a 57 oh well. I start collage in July not august as you can infer I was not expected to do much of what I just mentioned The effects of my seizures is that i have Aspie like tendencies due to my epilepsy which i know is difficult to understand to put it in simple terms as a result of my seizures my brain compensated and rewired itself and so i have all of the symptoms of Aspergers but lack any sort of understanding math as a result i have no understanding of money and never really learned my basic math facts.(i am just learning them now in college which for most Aspergers people they are gifted with math abilities )i also have orthotic because due to my seizures that i had straight feet at birth i also have a sensory processing disorder. i have low gross motor control and other motor issues as well. After my father died, it seems I have had a relapse if that is possible. i still have my absence seizure but it is not enough to put me on meds . i have been getting driving lesson and have 10 -20 seizures in the drivers seat. i take omega 3 cod liver oil liquid form as i can not swallow pills this helps decrease the too -small -to -medicate -seizures i have very small seizures that show up on the EEG as misfired neurons and the Dr. called them "flurries" so here is what my flurries are typically like i will become very spacey i can not interact with my surroundings i also felt locked in to place. i am completely aware my vision becomes like a tunnel and thing start to move or vibrate on there own for me an absent seizure lasts 1 second with is rare but these flurries can last 5-10 minutes.

I had a lot of them throughout the primary school up to the sixth grade. Both my parents and teachers used to say I was always in my world but i truly wasn't. It also used to be a constant complaint of the teachers, "i do not understand what is wrong with her she keeps staring out the window but when i ask her the questions she knows the answer." Truthfully nobody from my family gave it attention , they said I simply loved daydreaming. Thankfully though it stopped after the 7th year. Its great to know that schools will be more alert with different kinds of epilepsy. Absense is the most hard to identify as a seizure. I have absense and before i was diagnosed i wasnt sure that they were actually due to epilepsy. It will be great if school children understood epilepsy as well as teachers :)

trying to get my partner diagnosed and I am in a state of frustration with nhs at the moment they are so intent that she makes up her seizures. her eyes roll back and her neck goes stiff, has hallucinations, nausea, wandering around, spins in circles, shouts out, swears a lot, severe anxiety and depression and suicidal tendences. I have seen a pattern of when these seizures happen and it always seems to be the afternoon of a thursday around 4pm never ealier or later and she also falls over alot during it... she also does this in the video so which or what is happening? she could be having non epileptic seizures as she is schizophrenic and hears voices which gets worse during these seizures as well... hmm?

However, it hasn't been working much lately and I've been having many tonic-clonic seizures. I've also been having many absence seizures in the shower and it really sucks. I'm getting through it.

usually when you're "reading" but not really reading, you're still able to move your eyes and stuff, it's just not processing. with absence seizures you have no control (except basic reflexes like continuing to stand/sit up if less severe). if you were to compare it to something, i guess it's more like when you're really tired and trying not to fall asleep, but you keep nodding off and your head jolts up when you realize you need to stay awake. you don't feel yourself or remember actually drifting off to sleep, you just suddenly realize you're not supposed to be.

Have a question for the room...when a child, I had incidents where my mind would go completely blank for a split second (I assume). Usually it it was when a bright light would flash or perhaps catch me in the corner of my eye. On a couple occasions I'd be riding in a car and passing through trees so light-shadow-light in quick succession. It didn't effect me - my parents never noticed and I kind of thought is was normal. Oddly one of my children had the same thing....when he described them to me I remembered my own incidents. He says he thinks they are absence seizures...

This. I was an excessive daydreamer in elementary school and middle school. In High School, I just zone out in space. I got detention for the first and only time in 4th grade for daydreaming. If your teaching is too boring and/or uninteresting, my mind switches to daydream mode to keep itself entertained.

This girl at my school has this. Sometimes she'll stare at someone or something and we need to tell the teacher. Or if she falls on the floor and she's twitching I feel bad cause we can't touch her until she's done. But today I was looking around the room and she stopped and stared at me and I told the teacher and she said leave it and like 3 minutes pass and she's still staring at me then when I got up to tell the teacher and fell on the floor and started twitching. This went on for 6 minutes. We had to call the ambulance bc if it lasts more then 4 minutes she could die. It was scary. They rushed her to the hospital. Her mom told me she wouldn't stop twitching until she got to the hospital (the hospital is like 20-30 minutes away)

I think i have absence seizures. Sometimes when im just standing around, i feel like my soul has been taken out of my body, and i cant control anything for like, 0.5 seconds. I came to this video to see what it looks like. I dont wanna self diagnose, but im pretty sure i have absence seizures.

As someone who has this kind of epilepsy, I would just like to clarify that these kinds of seizures are not always this quick. I have had absence seizures that literally lasted for either 30 minutes, or an hour or so. They come on with absolutely no warning, and you cannot be woken up from them. Said person just freezes up for an indefinite period of time. One tell that someone is having an absence seizure is obviously a completely blank expression, but(at least for me, not sure if this applies to everyone with this kind of epilepsy) another sign is repititious movements, such as moving your finger in a circle over and over again. This video does a great job of showing how sudden the seizures can come on, but I figured I should mention that the seizures can go on for *far* longer than just a few moments.

This is what happened to me when I was in jr. high and the public school kicked me out and sent me to a boarding school for 3 yrs. but as time went by I came back to the public school I was at in my jr. yr. and I went on to work in Special Ed. for 35 yrs. and I stood up for students who had neurology disorders.

I've had absence seizures before plus 2 breakthrough seizures which happened as a result of me forgetting to take my medication. I'm hoping to start having driving lessons in the near future, once I get checked up, as I haven't had any absences for well over a year now.

Im here in philippines 2004,(19 yrs old) that time when im surgery because of sinusitis turn to infection in my brain.. since im recover that dont know i why starting of epilepsy thru weekly,monthly,yearly until now im thnkfull to other doc. They help me to about the medical drugs... My last triger epilepsy is 2018, but before that yes im always feeling last past in aura seizure but bcause of medical turn to absences seizure now, 2018 2020 feel only absencea seizure, im using my drug in 2 a days everyday but now the here in whole world of covid 19 bcause of that im taking once a day for limit in buy supply in the drugs store. Yes, there is. There is more seizures involved with epilepsy. Do you have any involuntary movements. Most people tend to mistake epilepsy for tics or Tourette's syndrome. Muscle contractions and other seizures are involved.

Depends if you have other symptoms. I'd definitely suggest getting it checked either way. It could be ADHD, for example.

I've had epilepsy since I was 7 years old so I've had it for 7 years now.. and it's tough to say the least. My first year I wasn't on medication so that was the worst year..my mum said she woke up screaming from nightmares for weeks because she was so terrified. Because I didn't have jsut absence ones I had; tonic clonic, absence, facial twitching also stress seizures so i faint in school alot and it tends to make me very weak etc and my parents use to count how many times they called any ambulance. They stopped counting after it got past the 300 Mark, that was when I was 9, I'm 14 now.

High humidity and low atmospheric pressure is the reason why people get seizures! I found out because my previous seizure was during when the hurricane and I googled it and found out. That's why places with high humidity such as The UK and Pakistan have the highest percentage of Epileptics.

So I have an 8 year old son, he was formally diagnosed with this. It happens so many times during the day and has gotten to the point that when he blanks out, he wets himself (we homeschool thank goodness) I always hug him while it’s happening and I’ll ask him what he sees when it’s happening and he says he see’s his great grandma sometimes (he was around during her passing and it definitely took a toll on him emotionally). We just started ethosuximide. My biggest fear is him being stuck taking meds that “turn him into a zombie” he’s such an active child, full of life. I wish more than anything that I could do more...

Ok ,so since my late 16s I frequently have this problem : Sometimes randomly I have strange feelings which is indescribable, its like things are coming closer, into more focus , deja vu etc when all of a suddem I go blank and there is loss of awareness and connection with the surrounding, I am not conscious or aware of anything its same like when a person sleeps then after few secs I return back from that blankness and then forget what I was doing that particular time and even what I did the entire day, I then try and start recalling which it takes me good 3 -4 mins to remember everything, sometimes I can control/ ward it off , other times it happens so frequently that by the end I get terrible headaches... My mother and sister tell me that I give a death /blank stare during that period Its been happening for 3 years now, then 3-4 days ago I had a full tonic- clonic seizure in the morning for the 1st time... my sister saw it , I was sleeping and suddenly I began jerking , My lips turned blue, eyes rolled to a side and I bit my tongue.. Of course I was unconscious after this , and don't remember anything of the seizure , my sister described it to me, only I had headache and body ache throughout the day and felt tired and sleepy I did go for an MRI , which came back normal Could someone please tell what is all this..it would be of great help ..

I have had these seizures since I was 9 years old and when I was 18 they stopped, 31 years later the seizures came. Apparently the seizures were laying dormant until I was stressed out and they returned and I have the seizures for the rest of my life.

As someone who has absences sezuire this is so relatable i remember when i had one during a swimming race luckly i was doing backstrokes so when it happened i was just floating on the water and my brother got me out of the water if i was doing butterfly or front strokes i bet i would've drowned

I think this has happened to me before. I don't remember any of what happened until my friend called me. I don't remember what we were previously talking about, what I was looking at, what I was thinking about.. nothing. Do these types of seizures have triggers? Because it happened after I went on about 4 very fast rides at a fair. Would that have caused it?

I don’t know if it’s just a normal thing that happens to a lot of people, but, sometimes, when I see (maybe watching a music video) flashing lights, I find difficult to breath normally, like after a long running session.sometimes at school, I just went blank. My friends asked me if I was in stand-by, and I said, really confused, no. Or maybe I abruptly become really confused of what I am doing, of why I am in a place, or I freeze when I am standing up, or sitting on the couch or laying in bed... should I see a doctor? sorry for the mistakes but I am not an English speaking person…
