Dark Souls 2 is probably my favorite game in the series, for a handful of reason, and the one souls game I come back to the most. That said as someone who absolutely loves the game enough to call it one of my top 3 games of all time, All your points and cons are completely valid. SOTFS edition had the worst enemy placement in the series and the game is much more sluggish compared to the others. Adaptability is an unfortunate stat and soul memory is quite frankly the worst thing ever. your on point with most of the bosses never reaching the heights of the other games with too few exceptions. Certain rings in the game feel almost essential like the Chloranthy Ring do to how slow stamina recharge feels. Power stancing from my experience only really works well with dex builds, but I never really experimented to much with power stancing strength weapons, I have seen their effectiveness but as you said the stamina consumption is just too much. Many more issues could be talked about in great length but I'm sure I don't need to tell you what is very apparent. So why is it my favorite? I certainly had my sufferings through my first playthrough, what with not knowing important details like why you need to level adaptability and the pain that is the terrible boss runs, the alonne knights seemingly having master the art of mitosis and the no good hitboxes. However, a terrible curiosity to see what other builds would be like and what I missed, had me do more playthroughs. As I went about exploring, learning more about the game and it's many odd and unusual features that the other souls games don't have it started to click with me more. Even Dealing with the god awful enemy placements became less of an issue for me only because I knew about them before hand on subsequent playthourghs and learned how to deal with them (Not saying their excusable) The more I learned the more I Enjoyed the game and eventual started to love it. Dark souls 2 out of everyone of them felt the most rewarding to get good at compared to the others, with the only other contender for me being Elden Ring. The game had an atmosphere and vibe that I absolutely adore and the npc's and lore are some of my favorite in the franchise. I love all the wacky weapons and gear in this game and Having done many different builds from strength, dex, and the many flavors of magic I was really having fun with the game, those bones fists are super funny to use. I'd say the funnest build to run in this game, at least the funnest I had is Hex mage or previously mentioned bone fists. There are more reasons for why I like it but I'm not righting an essay and I'm no good at explaining things and would likely come of as to nebulous do to it all in the end being personal taste. I am not implying you should play the game again or that you were to harsh on it, you clearly had a much worst first impression on it then I did and I'm not trying to sway anyone's opinion on it, As said before there is a reason this game is considered the worst and I am unable to dispute that point, I have extensively played all the other games. I just thought I could share why I or other people like this game over the others as silly as that comes across to some people. Loved the video and glad to have found your channel. (Apologies for the long read)

GG brotha, and thanks for recording/making this series. It's been fun to re-watch all of this and remember what we said and did. I'd say "let's go for round 2" but honestly I couldn't play this shit again if someone paid me. Looking forward to playing Demons Souls next!

Decided to play this shit, even bought both DS2 and Scholar, clearing the OG version first. Got through Black Gulch with basically no issues, killed Sinner, got through Iron Keep and the fucking salamanders to unlock Iron Passage are what's going to make me quit. Most of what I've gone through, wth few exceptions, has been pretty fun, but this game has so much bullshit in some areas, that I don't even know if I want to plat it. In summary, good job on clearing this shitshow, Lupine, I know I probably won't do it lmao.

The DS2 subreddit defends Iron Passage like crazy. They're like "it's a raid dungeon, you're not supposed to handle it solo." When in reality, they just copy-pasted way too many enemies in a single hallway. I ended up just killing them until they despawned to avoid the terrible runback to Cool Ranch Smelter.

Gotta say it was so much fun seeing your playthrough of this Game, almost torturing yourself in a way... The weird thing is, going through these Games in chronological/release order, a lot of the BS I had to deal with in DS2 SOTFS almost made most of DS3 feel easier yet at the same time (along with Bloodborne) a lot better to play! I dunno there's something about being able to Roll Through an Abyss Watchers attack and then take a swing at them with your Claymore, without it depleting your entire Stamina Bar, needing for you to level adaptability, or having any kind of input delay for any of your actions...
@Prynne_ Жыл бұрын
First off, fantastic intro. Second, as someone who's beaten DS2 exactly twice, I corroborate your findings in that the experience is truly "pure aids." People like to say it's a good game, but not a good souls game. I think even that assessment is generous, optimistic, and ignorant. A veritable smorgasbord of some interesting mechanical innovations, and then garbage level design, encounter design, Adaptability, recovery frames. As much as I would love to play it to try the allegedly great pvp, having to play it at all actively makes my mental illness worse. All of the frustration of Dark Souls with none of the things that make it satisfying to play and master. Enemies materialize out of thin air behind you, preventing you from clearing corners and picking apart a level. Expect the unexpectable because screw you. Anyway, great run.

It's amazing. 6 eps so you can finish it in 2 hours. If you have time or feel up to it, I would recommend watching Gunbuster first as Diebuster is the spiritual sequel to it. Gunbuster is also 6 eps and was like the 1st or 2nd thing that Anno directed. Very 80s and cemented many mecha tropes

the ending of this game honestly blows my mind like how did they legit end it with arguably the 3 worst bosses of the entire series (like they just tacked on aldia for what???). Also i think u touched on it slightly but the lock on/tracking is so unreal garbage like ur movespeed and sprint is so much slower than playing unlocked + if a boss goes behind u and u dont fully turn u just fkn attack backwards for 0 anyway i did a similar pt with a friend and imo its probably the only way i wouldve ever gotten thru this game LMAO. the just insanely bland/repetitive boss movesets r just a drag(only boss i enjoyed was fume knight, maybe alonne or sinh but both have garbo ai). atleast the level design and area diversity carries somehwhat>? idfk honestly when i try to come up with pros for this game it just feels like im coping out of my mind LOL,.
