It's not about justification. You want Gibson US made, you pay for it. Putting a value or monetary amount on sound/tone is pointless. You like the damn guitar, buy it. You want a certain name brand, buy it.

@@drewg3087 Honestly, it's very difficult. The only difference between the two feel-wise is the neck on the Gibson seemed a bit heavier and maybe a tad wider. Otherwise the two sound nearly identical. Actually bought a J-200 after trying them out. You don't see this build quality at this price point very often. Betting Epiphone is either going to raise the price on this series or stop making it- they're that good.

Hi Mr.Ben, thanks for the video. First of all, very delighted to watch you play with your proficiency in playing acoustics and the way you play, makes the viewers inspired rather than brand itself. Just want to know how many years, you have been playing, also for me usually J45 with Mahogany makes me very pleasing sound to my ears but with this Epiphone, it makes a difference as a little bit of shrieking in my ear. Any way, all in all, very pleased with your play. Please play next time "sweet home chicago" Magic sam version next time with sweet turnarounds.

I picked up an Inspired By Hummingbird as a "couch guitar" I didn't even buy a case, it will be on my couch. Some people do pillows, I prefer guitars. For really, what turned out to be a heck of a deal. Limited edition color that may not have been popular, I don't know? I like it (I don't actually want an orange sunburst guitar like 1,000,000,000,000 other people anyway). I'm not one to judge, but I sounded decent to me, feels good, it's well constructed, binding all over the place, except the headstock which has an inlaid logo and that Holly Inlay (cool). Cool pick guard. This weekend I'll get some new strings and a battery, maybe condition the fretboard, some "Nut Sauce" on the nut and bridge and really test it out. LONG STORY FOLLOWS The last acoustic I owned, was a super cheap BC Rich guitar my uncle bought us in the late 1980's, my brother gave away to his buddy in a punk rock band, who mid late 90's gave back to my brother covered in stickers, all these weird slogans "don't miss, this one!" Half the dark paint on the fretboard was sanded off. He brought it to me and gave to me. You want it? I said "yeah..." It had been a few years since I had a guitar, I wanted it and the thing was, it sounded awesome. I played the heck out of it. Everyone who showed up, friends, room mates friends, all thought it sounded awesome, and I was good. I had the neighbour literally pop his head in the window "holy crap man.... You're good... How long you been playing?" I'm playing Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, STP, things in weird tunings, my own things Zeppelin Dancing Days (by STP). One day, and high I left the guitar on the couch and went out for the night. Come home, there was a leak from upstairs, the water was pouring directly into the soundhole, laying on the couch. Then when they came in to repair it, they found the devil's lettuce I was growing in the closet and evicted me. So I moved and played the guitar and didn't even notice the leck heal was separating from the body, probably because of the flood. But it still sounded good. I had nothing else to do, this late 90's, I have nothing, no phone, no cable TV, nothing. I had an older dude across the hall, who smoked the devil's lettuce and always had people hanging out. Including me, and a younger kid, late teens above him. We'd hang a out and smoke the devil's lettuce. When I moved out again, I was really going to set my life in line and get a grip basically. I sold the guitar to the bold guy. He was a pack rat. He bought it. I'd stop in every now and again. See what he's up to. I show up there ome day out of curiosity where is that guitar? Ah.... I gave it to someone to get a cost on fixing it, the neck. He said it wasn't even worth it. The guitar is garbage. It was $250 in 1990. I gave it to Luke upstairs. He had to have it. He absolutely had to have it. Which put a smile on my face. I didn't want it back, He never told me that. Never asked about the guitar me playing, nothing. I would just play, it was tasty, I know that, it sounded great, I was cool then but it was literally a piece of garbage. And he still wanted it.

No offense intended. There would also be problem with the string slots in the nut. No way an acoustic guitar strung up in reverse will be intonated accurately, without modification, for one the bridge runs diagonal like this \ on a right handed guitar to compensate for the proper string length to maintain even pitch thru the frets. if you flip the guitar the bass side of the strings will be shorter than the proper scale making the intonation off naturally, the high side will be longer as well making the notes sharper on one side and flatter on the other side than they should be.. thus the guitar sounds cheap and badly tuned in different registers
@bobaldo2339
@bobaldo2339 4 жыл бұрын
These sound very good. And, like the expensive standard series Gibsons they are patterned after they have a 12" fretboard radius (according to the specs). This is unlike the cheaper "G" series Gibsons which unfortunately have a flatter 16"radius. And now, if we only knew what strings are on these guitars we would know what we are actually hearing.

guys, i have played the new epiphone j-200 today in a shop and i was disappointed with it. pros: it looks great, the new headstock with the tuners is beautiful and the neck felt good but thats it. contra: the guitar lacks bass. also it sounds thin and trebly. so i prefered the sigma gja-sg200+ for the same price. sounds warmer, bigger and closer to the gibson original. the new epiphone j-200 would be OK for around 600 euro but for 900 euro you get too less for the money. you will hear the difference when VS demos will be released on YT.

They sound fantastic. I have a Epiphone J160E and it's really a toy compared to the actual Gibson. These sound like the real thing. Sounds like Epiphone has actually upped the game.

I am very interested in this new J-200 and while it sounds/looks great, it still is not a Gibson J-200 (understandably 4-5x the price). It sure seems like the main difference I wonder if Epiphone held back on with this Gibson Inspired version is the jumbo body width. I heard comments saying it is not as loud as the Gibson and maybe workmanship/materials are so close between the two that they went with a thinner body to differentiate the 2 and rationalize the upsell to the Gibson. Any thoughts who have payed either the Gibson or new Ephipone J-200?

They sound fantastic!!! I want one of each! All solid wood with bone, at that price I could almost buy 4 guitars at the price of one higher end gibson. Wonder how that epi J45 would compare to my 2019 AJ45 masterbilt? The J200 sounds the best IMO big and bassy

Is there any difference in sound/feel with the sunburst J200 and the natural top? I noticed they always play the natural top in the videos?

Will you guys be doing a demo of the Hummingbird 12 string once you get one in stock? I hope so that's the one I'm looking at the most and want to decide between that or a Martin D-X2E. On paper the Epiphone should be better and it's a bit more pricey, but yeah.

How different are these hummingbird builds from the previous Epiphone versions from a few years ago? Those older ones sounded tinny.

Could you do a comparison between the new inspired by Gibson J200 and the Epiphone ej200sce? I just bought the ej200sce in July and now they come out with this j200 beauty. I’m sick!
