You can point that to the New CEO's leadership. Gibson (for the most part) cant and won't be able to create value-priced instruments like fender that live up to the whole "luxury" brand segment that Gibson exists in. By creating these middle-ground epiphone guitars, they get people in the ecosystem of gibson brands and give them something to aspire to one day. I do think that is a distinction between a Mexican and American fender. After having bought a well-specc'd MIM fender strat this past year, I couldn't imagine buying an American one for more that would likely give me less. I've had an epiphone LP as my first guitar, and it's shortcomings made my first Gibson all the more sweet.

Sigma all the way.... although these epis are full solid body, sigma’s build quality is just amazing, I have tried them against several solid body guitars, way better sound than all of them... now will you get the Gibson sound for a sigma’s price? Nope, but quite close and Gibson will unlikely deliver a sound worth 6k of price on their guitars. IMO Sigma beats them both in Price-Quality relationship, you get them for close to epis price but they over deliver on quality and looks. But you are the judge, go to a Store and try them so you see what I’m talking you about, anyways you can’t go wrong with any. None the less these epis sound and look great!

@shakespeariancopy3053 3 жыл бұрын
@@EJ2K2K maybe you’ve got to try one with a poor set up, most guitars shipped overseas must be re set up due to climate and atmospheric pressure changes but more than usual guitar stores don’t care about that. I tried one in the UK vs other Gibson’s and epis, and while sound wise they were not as good as Gibson they were way better to my ears than any epi master built I tried that day, but this store have each guitar set up done as soon as they arrive, huge difference. While of course a 400$ guitar won’t feel or sound like a 4K guitar, these do great price quality for most players. I advice you to check a blindfold video done by Anderton’s featuring Ariel posen and trying sigmas and Gibson’s and Others, Ariel was surprised by the quality of Sigma.

This Epiphone Inspired by Gibson J-200 is just an all around excellent guitar. I have both Aged Antique Natural and Aged Vintage Sunburst.Like I said they look & sound gorgeous. I'll be picking up another Epiphone Inspired by Gibson made in Cherry Burst. It does have the Inspired by Gibson sticker inside, but the top is the only solid wood part on it [sikta spruce]. A very beautiful guitar for just $499.00 American dollars. made by Gibson/Epiphone for Sweetwater Sound. I have been waiting for Gibson/ Epiphone to make some well deserved minor improvements & then raise prices modestly I think. Gibson Acoustics are great guitars but, way over priced. I grew up 25 miles from their original plant in Kalamazoo, MI. I come from Battle Creek, MI. What else could a bunch of flakes want cereal & guitars. Peace, Michael Angelo

On central heating and humidity. #1 Open your windows - yes you lose heat, but hey fresh air comes in. #2 Place a bowl of water next to the radiators. This will cause this water to evaporate (500 ml will do for a week I think, well depends on you heating, but still) and humidify your apartment in a way, which does not cause trouble, yet is nice to your guitars.

Maple guitars “you have to work a bit harder to get volume out of them” Man, from a J-200? I’m not sure if you’re being serious. They were purpose designed to be loud. I own the Gibson J-200. I can’t imagine an acoustic with more natural volume & projection than that

Man, love that J-200! However, I feel like that price is a little bit too much..? The EJ-200 is half the price and the only difference is the solid body, I believe? I don't know is that difference is worth double the price. That said...I still want one, lol

The build quality on the J-200 is phenomenal. The instant response when taking it out of the box is "WOW". It's well worth $899- have a feeling these are going to be classics in the future. I'm not kidding when I say it's up there with my $1800 Martin.

I've had my Epi Masterbilt AJ-45ME for 5 years now (paid $599) and there is nothing in that price range that can touch it. It sounds awesome, my Taylor friends shake their heads in disbelief when I tell them I paid less than half what they paid for their 'not all solid tonewood' Taylors. I'm definitely going to pick up a 12 string Hummingbird when they become available. If you're looking for a great price on a great guitar and don't want to spend a couple of grand, don't be afraid to pull the trigger on these Epi's.

In general I gravitate more towards the big "M", but I have a J-45 model from last year, when it was still called "AJ-45 Masterbilt", also all solid woods. I guess there is not much difference except for the tuners and the finish. It is a very good guitar, not only for the price, but good, period. Not wow-factor excellent, but really good.

Thanks for this video, super informative! I'm very interested in the new Epiphone Hummingbird and I'm thinking of buying it, it seems to be really good for this price range! But I hesitate with the new D'Angelico Excel Lexington which has almost the same characteristics (all solid wood, same microphone, almost the same price), and which also has a great design! A video explaining the differences between these two guitars in terms of sound and comfort would be great 🤩
