Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom | Does it Compare to the Real Deal?

Looks and sounds excellent. I think with the price of the real thing being sky high that this is a great happy medium to having a quality instrument that can be played and gigged without any worry nor audio sacrifice. I personally do not like modifying & upgrading cheaper guitars, which seems to be a big trend. So with this being great out of the box and not needing any messy costly nor time-consuming upgrading, I’m all for this! This will be a guitar on my short list after getting rid of some others I have that I no longer want or need.

Mine arrives today and can’t wait! Seems like a no brainer as you get a Les Paul Custom at fifth of the price of the USA model. Only differences between USA vs IBG Epiphone is the USA headstock angle is 17 degrees and IBG Epiphone is 14 degrees. The body thickness on the USA is a little thicker vs IBG Epiphone. The USA has ABR-1 bridge vs IBG Epiphone has its own Epiphone bridge but other than that essentially everything else the same spec for spec. So stoked!!!

The 490R/498T are not good enough value to justify this guitar over the Epiphone 59, which comes with Custombuckers. It's more than 250 bucks in value difference for the same price? Nah, doesn't make sense to me. The Custombuckers sound absolutely amazing, and they're not potted. You get a really really high end vintage sound with a fully featured Les Paul. What more can you ask? (Better fret dressing, is what you can ask, actually, but whatever, any luthier can do that)

I have two "LP customs". I bought an epiphone Adam Jones art collection one, at a discount and was (am) very happy with it, but then my dream guitar a Maybach Lester with P90s and Bigsby, came up on Reverb, and I had to scrape together the money to buy that. It’s more expensive than the epi, though still less than £2k (second hand) so much cheaper than a Gibson. And I have to admit it’s easier to play than the Epi. I really kind of resent that, I want to epi to be just as good as the Maybach hand I think it sounds as good (though different - humbuckers vs p90s), but the Maybach is easier to play. I can't really work out why - the Epi isn’t *bad* to play, just not quite as easy for my fretting hand.

Not suprising, Maybach is leagues above Epiphone. They should be compared to Gibson.

I went to GuitarGuitar Newcastle yesterday to try one. Feels rounded. A bit thicker than the Gibson Standard 60’s.
