I have a JC in gold top with flats and the tone is superb. Agree its one of the best HB bass around. Great demo!

Jack cassidy is the bass player who wrote the wildly iconic bass line first “White Rabbit” and played with Jefferson Airplane! Dude is a legend and this bass is butter!

Love these, desperately want one. Can't see it getting used in any of the bands I play in. Plenty of studio use though. Great demo PRJ

Thank you! It was fun to noodle around on. I feel the same as you but I currently don't have a gig 😬 I can get some pretty cool tones out of the acoustic-electric but let's face it, the pickup in that thing sucks! I will get one eventually but I think it will ultimately be one of the Ibanez semi-hollow basses.

@@progrockjock I've not seen an Ibanez semi I don't think. I look out for a review. Get yourself giging again my friend.

I've been working on it...🙏🏾

Gibson Thunderbird pickup would be devastating, as would a Curtis Novak BS-DS Bisonic pickup. There’s a guy in Europe , Daguet Guitars, who makes a Bisonic pickup in the factory form factor also, and it has the deep low with great highs sound. That Gibson original Thunderbird has some serious juice in a very smooth drlivery.

I wish there was a nicer version of this bass - either a Gibson version or Epiphone USA.

That makes no sense. These basses are played by the designer himself, Jack Casady. Right off the shelf, so to speak and then he puts Dean Markley Blue Steel strings on them. Then he goes on tour. Are you saying that you want a "better" bass than the guy that made it and plays it for a living? What is missing in your opinion?
@robmurrah3224Ай бұрын
@@sethbrown8912 Yes, I am saying that. I don't really care about what Jack Casady does at all. At all. I just think it's a cool bass and would like the option for a Gibson version. He gets them for free and they're *his* signature bass that he makes money from, so of course he uses them on tour. Jack White used a cheap, crappy Airline guitar from the 60s. Do I want a better guitar than what Jack White used? Yes. Even though Jack White used that crappy guitar to tour and make a bunch of money, it's still a cheap guitar and most players want something better. Gibsons are just nicer. I've owned plenty of Epiphones. They feel cheap and have lower quality parts.

Its long scale. That's why it enjoys...preference with bass payers not given to short scale basses. The tones on evidence in this video do 'not' support that it sounds better, just different, and very much more limited.

Check out Ed Freidland's review before you decide that it is limited. He plays slap style on it.
