I would add some expanded metal or something to protect the back of your cab, also I’d probably weld some tie down points on the bed sides. Great build

Absolutely agree. I added some tie down points just yesterday! I was still figuring it out. And agree on the cab protection too. Just not sure if I wanted to do expanded metal / diamond plate / or just more sheet steel. Expanded is probably the best option though!

@@Socaladv whatever you choose will be the right option for you bc you know what you will be doing most, saving weight wherever you can will allow you more room for extra customization on other parts!

You mentioned throwing bags on for when you've got a buncha weight in the back causing sagging, I'd make sure you aren't exceeding the weight limit of your axle. Can have all the "sag prevention" in the world, but it won't mean squat(heh) if it's too much for your axle.

Absolutely agree. The truck rated payload is 1800lbs. I’m aiming for less than 1000lbs once the camper is on it. But if we need to upgrade, l will cross that bridge when we get to it. I don’t want to over beef the back before I know what the camper weighs in at.

But even now with 600lbs of moto in the truck it sags so the airbags will get me back to ride height and keep my headlights out of folks eyes 🤣

Super sick build, stoked to follow along! Do you have a plan for the camper? Wedge-top/full pop up?

It’s gonna be a cab over hard sided camper. I’ll show more details along the way of the plans

Nice fab work! Those boxes ruin your departure angle, though!

Thanks! Yeah, It’s a 2WD truck so not too worried about wheeling. And they are actually up higher than the stock bed would be. But I still want to make it as capable as can be

@@Socaladv throw a locker in it and a winch up front, and you can go just about anywhere you want to! Looking forward to following along!

Definitely want to do those mods. There are quite a few lockers it seems like e locker would be the simplest 🤷🏻‍♂️
