40 hours to build is nothing compared to the 100's of hours you must have put into planning it all out. Great job! I have a loaded up FWC (about 10 years now). Project M didn't exist when I bought mine. It will be interesting to see what your final build weighs in it at. You will get a ton of use out of your outside pressurized water line. We use ours more than the sink. I hope you built it up high enough to fill bottles, pots etc. I like how you aren't afraid to drill holes in your truck. Screw keeping it stock for the next guy and not getting the value out of it yourself. I look forward to the final build. Four Wheel Campers might be cannibalizing the sales of their loaded up units when people get a look at your quality DIY build. The extruded aluminum is awesome. Easy for you to make changes to down the road if you need to as well.

Haha so true, couldn’t even begin to calculate all the Google and Amazon searching for parts and pieces, Scrolling through the 80/20 websites etc. I’m going to weigh it and get a new rear leaf pack built in January. It was 8600 lb before the buildout full loaded for a week long trip. I expect it to be around 9k now. I do end up doing most of my dishes and cooking all outside. I have a hose I attach and take it around the corner so I don’t make mud at the tailgate 👍. Thanks for watching

Awesome write up and excellent craftsmanship! I'm glad you made this video after seeing your post on FB. It costed me around the same amount to customize my build out with the 8020, wood, hardware etc.. The spare tire water tank was a great idea. If I had known about that, I probably wouldve done the same to maximize the storage space below and keep the weight of the vehicle more centered! Great job man!
@prospectoverlandАй бұрын
Thanks for checking it out and you have a first hand appreciation for building something along these lines. I had been looking at a million different shape tanks and sizes to fit on the inside then i came across this spare tire tank and instantly knew this was the winning ticket. They had just released this 14 gallon because they had previously had a 6 gallon for a while. Thanks for watch.

Very detailed, durable, and nicely finished build. I do wonder how much weight this masterpiece added to your overall GVW. I'm going about my interior build completely differently...I'm in the middle of a flyweight interior build into my Tacoma with an Ovrlnd Campers topper, but one that still includes a powerpack and distribution panel, fresh and grey water tanks & sink, cooktop / meal prep space, fridge, storage, and seating space. I expect a good portion of my storage will end up in the rear seat area of the Tacoma (with rear seats removed) but also still hopeful to store the essentials in the camper. You have me now thinking about the feasibility of fitting in a small, lower power microwave oven. Thanks for sharing your many learnings and excellent build processes here.

Sure seems like it would’ve been easier to attach that flooring material to the wood before you started building the shelving system. One big sheet you could’ve just rolled on and then flipped it over and cut the edges. Looks good though.
@prospectoverlandАй бұрын
Agreed, would have been easier, but I wanted the aluminum frame sitting flush with the raw wood surface verse spanning between the high points of each coin bump on the flooring and leaving air gaps for dirt to get under the aluminum. Thanks for watching

Fantastic. I learned so much. I'm curious what the width of bench, counter and floor space? Also the height of bench. Thanks
@prospectoverlandАй бұрын
Thanks a lot! Benches and counters are all 18” deep. Floor/hallway area ended up about 34-35” wide.

I recently ordered a Tune M1 which is very similar and the main reason I went that route vs something like a Hawk or slide in, is because I still wanted to be able to use my truck like a truck even while going places to camp (kids ride on toys, beach supplies, all the crap we need for weekends on the boat, etc). Curious why not go with a slide in if you’re just going to permanently build out a slide-in “like” setup anyway?

you did an amazing job on the whole build great job, but I have one major question why didn't you use some lighter material on other cabinet pieces where you could so to keep the weight down, and again you did a great job
@andrewauer421529 күн бұрын
Set up is great man, I'm planning a TUNE M1 buildout similar to yours this February. I was curious (and I'm sure you linked somewhere) the two steel corner right angle's you have mounted directly to your bed and seems to function as way to keep the ply base your built nice and snug/tight. I was wondering if it served another function and if you could provide a link to them. (or if for some reason there was a con to them vs pros. Appreciate the vids keep them up.

Now your stuff. Must. Fit in your build- wheras I have different sized storage containers,in different places- just want people to think about it,and use it.- B4 building. If it works for u, great. It's all I could do,also, to have the dogs bed,a chair, and the heater. I'll velcro my containers to the shelves, a sink would take up space also- that's in a 8 ft bed. 😊 everyone do what you want. All good.

The carpet??? The rubber flooring you mean? Cause that’s what the manufacture of the flooring material recommends for proper adhesion.

I did consider that and offset the pump some to the battery location. And I turn the water off when not in use. Or maybe insurance will buy a new one 😬
