I was brought to the states as a toddler and I've been an illegal immigrant for 35+ years now with no true pathway to citizenship. American culture is all I've ever known. I'm a patriotic American despite not being American by mere definition. My life has been a living hell to the point of contemplating self-deletion. I can only imagine how different life would've been if I born across the line in the sand 100 ft. away.

I think people vote based on their ethnic background sometimes because in the States minorities go through things the majority doesn't. Minorities want to stick together and not have so many white/majority in the government. Not all minorities agree with each other and thought to have the best interest of the community. Although I think most minorities like black, Asians, Latinos, Native Americans etc have some understanding of the racism and biases in the country. White people will never understand it until they are the minority. Even so black people have a long history of discrimination all over the world. The culture of white people in the states have racial biases and recently that has been shown a lot. To understand why minorities do what they do we have to look at the historical damage of those minds and what society became because of it. I think no matter how unbiased a white person is or what ever race you are you can't fully understand other minorities suffering. That minority group has to work together and demand the equality and life they feel they deserve. For the sake of their people's safety and livelihood.
